VTSVIEW
Hi People! My 1 year O-A visa(obtained in Los Angeles) is expiring on 15 May 2009. Can anyone please tell me clearly how to renew O-A or get an extension for another year in Thailand? Thanks and Happy Songkran!
Lite Beer
You cannot extend it or renew it. Assuming it is a single entry and not a double you need to, Go to Immigration with about 30 days remaining on your stay and apply for a 12 month extension of your permision to stay. Note it is the date stamped in your passport not the expirey date on the Visa. You need 800,000 Baht in a Thai bank. OR 65,000 Baht monthly income. OR A combination of the two. If using income you need a letter from your embassy confirming your income if from abroad. If using the bank deposit you need a letter from the bank certifying the deposit. Plus an updated bank book with the same deposit. The money has to be in the bank for a period of at least 2 months before application. Tm7 Application Form. Passport size photo. 1,900 Baht fee. To answer your question in the other forum only people over 50 can get a O-A Visa and it is for retiring.
lopburi3
LA issued so single entry. The expiration date of visa is not important - what you need to watch is the permitted to stay stamp you have in your passport when you entered the country. Before that date (a week up to 30 days is suggested) visit Immigration office with above to extend your stay for one year.
InterestedObserver
You didn't mention what your financial status is. If you don't have 800,000 baht cash in a Thai bank by now, then it's probably too late for the cash in the bank option. In that case, you need a 65,000 baht per month income affidavit from the US embassy, or a combination of income + cash totaling a minimum 800,000 baht per year. Lite Beer
No Problem with money part, it just so confusing. In your Passport you will have a stamp from Immigration when you arived at the airport. About 30 days before this date go to Immigration and apply for a 12 month extension as posted earlier.
