Water On The Knee

The day before I moved to Bangkok I had to move a lot of furniture out of my apartment I think I may have slightly torn a muscle while doing so because since then and throughout the past year I've been here I have had the following symptoms.

A slight feeling of numbness right above my left knee.

When I stand that area and my knee itself begins to throb, pulse and ache

When I sit I need to keep my leg elevated or the throbbing and pulsing pain starts

If I palpitate the area it feels slightly numb and sends a prickly sensation around the knee area.

I have a little difficulty moving the leg but not much

There is no visible swelling

About a month after I got here I went to see a doctor about this at BNH. He prescribed me anti inflammatory and good old antibiotics. Neither of which helped at all, I went back and informed him of this but he simply prescribed me more anti inflammatory medicine.

At one point I started taking Prednisolone a steroid for a few weeks. This seemed to help but I had a lot of muscle twitches and my heart would race. I decided I shouldn't mess around with this drug and stopped. I do periodically elevate the leg above my heart but this only helps minimally. The problem seems to be getting gradually worse. I am probably going back to the USA in about two months but if I can find a decent doctor here who could accurately diagnose and treat this problem that would be great.

I am willing to pay for the best. I want top quality care. Based on what I've written here does it sound like I have water on the knee? If so how would this be diagnosed and what is the best treatment? And are there any suggestions for doctors?

you need drainpipe trousers.

or get someone to give you a tap on the leg

It has been 55 plus years since I had that condition but in those days it was treated as with any horse - Absorbine Jr. and a tight ACE bandage.

You might want to see an Orthopedic surgeon.

They can drain the knee and see if you have an infection.

There is also arthroscopic surgery. That would let them look at the knee and see if there is a structural problem.

Defionitely need to see an orthopedic specialist.
