Hi everybody,

As the clause 2.18 alinea 6 stipulate :

...an average income of not less than 40,000 THB per month...

Is it for all nationalities?

Aren't Europeans suppose to show more (minimum of 50 000 baht per month)?

How much did you show following your experiences?

Thank you

2.18 In case of a family member of a Thai (applicable only to parents, spouse, child, adopted child or child of his/her spouse):

Permission will be granted for a period of not more than 1 year at a time.

(1) The alien has obtained a temporary visa (non-IM)

(2) Proof of family relationship

(3)In the case of a spouse. The marital relationship shall be de jure (legitimate) and de facto;

(4) In the case of a child, adopted child or child of his/her spouse, the said person must not be married, must be less than 20 years of age; or

(5) In the case of a parent, one of parents must have an average income not less than 40,000THB per month or a money deposit of not less than 400,000 THB for expenses within a year.

In other necessary circumstances, The immigration commissioner or Deputy of Immigration Commissioner may approve on case to case basis.

(6) In case of marriage with a Thai lady, the husband who is an alien must have an average income of not less than 40,000 THB per month or a money deposit in a local Thai bank of not less than 400,000 THB for the past 2 months for expenses within a year.

This is for extension for family. You are thinking of the extension for employment, which has an income list by nationality.

In that case must ask Gordon to raise the UK pension levels to....40 K then...righto....

so at 50 = £ that means 800 a month..right....err :o ........

Yes. 40,000 for everyone.

No.........if you are from Nigeria and similar countries, you get a huge discount.....think about 20,000 baht. Why? Because we all know tourists from Nigeria are big spenders (and honest) as opposed to tourists from, say, America...... :D:o

You think I am kidding........unfortunately, I am not kidding. There is a double standard in place.

Did you even bother to read the OP?

The question sure looks like it is about an extension based on marriage...

If that is the case, I think 40k for all is correct.

The extension based upon marriage process is probably the most stringently enforced of all others because it must be approved by the local office and the regional office over it.

The 40,000 number will never we waived for anybody.

Even the income required for an extension based upon employment is solidly fixed (25,000 for those from Africa). That is why many people are on multiple entry visas and making border runs every 90 days. For teaching of course the salary requirement does not apply.

I may be wrong, but when I got my extension based on marriage to a Thai national the "money/income requirement" was not the same for each country.......and I do remember that expats from Nigeria were given a big income break (think Russia too). Sorry, can't find the form now or I would post it......it was listed on the last page of the requirements.

The following is what you are thinking of. It only applies to clause 2.1 not 2.18.

ATTACHMENT TO ROYAL THAI POLICE HEADQUARTERS ORDER NO. 777/2551 dated November 25, 2008 Income Table Referred to Clause 2.1 (2)

Nationality Minimum Income 1. European countries (except Russia), Australia continent, Canada, Japan, and U.S.A. Baht 50,000/month 2. South Korea, Singapore, Taiwan and Hong Kong Baht 45,000/month 3. Asian countries (except Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Cambodia, Myanmar, Laos and Vietnam), South America continent, Countries in Eastern Europe, Countries in Central America, Mexico, Turkey, Russia and South Africa Baht 35,000/month 4. African countries (except South Africa), Cambodia, Myanmar, Laos and Vietnam Baht 25,000/month

African countries (except South Africa), Cambodia, Myanmar, Laos and Vietnam Baht 25,000/month

Thank you.......that is precisely what I read at immigration.

My extension came with two options: 1) 400K in the bank at least two months prior to filing, or 2) monthly income of 40K (even though it stated 50K for US citizens.......odd, but TIT).

"4. African countries (except South Africa), Cambodia, Myanmar, Laos and Vietnam Baht 25,000/month"

If that is not a double standard, I don't know the meaning of double standard.

Anyway, thanks for additional information.

I thought for extension based on marraige it had been changed to 400,000 baht in thai bank account?Has this been changed again?

400,000 Baht in a Thai Bank OR 40,000 Baht monthly income. For every Nationality.

Because the requirement is 400K in the bank OR 40K a month for everyone.

Yes, I can see that now (not), it clearly states 40K for everyone:
