To get an extension of stay here only one of you needs to have the 800,000 baht in the bank. The other will get a dependent extension based upon the others extension of stay,

If you were to get non-oa visas at a consulate or embassy then both of you would need to show the money.

That´s fantastic but if I asked for non-immigrant O visa I don´t have to show 800.000 in bank. Do they mean that i 3 month can everybody survey.

You should be able to get a single entry non immigrant O (not an OA) visa from a Thai consulate or embassy for both of you since your are over 50. This would give you a 90 day permit to stay upon entry. That would give you enough time to get the money in the bank here for 2 months and then apply for the extension at immigration.

If they won't give you a non-o then get single entry tourist visas and then when one of you have the money in the bank go to immigration and do a change of visa status. They would then give you a non-o that can then be extended after the money is the in bank for 2 months.

I can get a multy entry non immigrant O visa without to show up 800.000 at a bankaccount. But then we have to make a visa run for to get 3 month more.

Yes you can if you want to. But some consulates/embassies are not issuing multiple or single entries because they are pusthing the

non-oa visa if you are over 50.

So then we have to pay the people at th embassy again to get it. (corrumption)

Blimey. That is not corruption. At some embassies, it is simply policy, and a quite reasonable policy at that if you bother to think about it. I suggest you simply determine the strategy you would like to pursue to sort out your visa options for retiring in Thailand, and then just do it. Your best bet is probably to get a single entry O visa, and then get the extensions based on retirement in Thailand. If they will not give you an O, you can start on a tourist visa as well (as ubonjoe explained). Good luck.

All you need is a single entry non immigrant O visa each. You enter Thailand and after two months (money in bank) the one with the money applies for extension of stay for retirement. Once that is granted the other can apply for extension of stay to be with the person who has the retirement extension of stay.

Cost -

2 x single entry non immigrant visa (approx 4,000 baht)

2 x extension of stay using TM.7 form (3,800 baht)

re-entry permits extra if you plan to travel out of Thailand.
