Fugitive ex-premier Thaksin Shinawatra issued a statement on Tuesday that the Abhisit government put the blame on him over the violence during Songkran Festival.

Thaksin said, "The government puts the blame on me for the violence during the festival. I flatly deny the accusation. Through my video links, I asked Thai people to fight for democracy. I always repeated that it should be the peaceful movement and the protesters peacefully rallied for several weeks."

Thaksin claimed he was accused of being behind the violence although he respected peace means, freedom, and equality.

Thaksin Shinawatra s former lawyer and former foreign minister Noppadol Patama said that Thaksin declared himself through his statement.

He also vowed that he would not end his fight for democracy and he also called for people to continue the protests to bring the real democracy and righteousness.

He also demanded Thai people who loved peace cooperated with each other to acchieve the reconcilation and the real democracy.

They did NOT let him go to the Olympics with the "promise" that he would return for his trials. His trials was already COMPLETED, and he was ALREADY sentenced for 2 years in prison WITHOUT the possibility of any appeal.

But the judges approve his departure, because:

Thailand did not want to put a ex-PM in jail, or

Thaksin have made a deal to go into exile quietly, or

He paid the judge to allow his escape, or

what ever, what ever.

I know it's not easy for decent Thais (or their inept legislators) to do, but they need to try and find some way to put the windbag out of mind. He was on bail, not permited to leave the country. He requested to leave (as he did before many times), he didn't came back. He was sentenced when he wasn't in Thailand, he could have appealed but didn't do it.

Using All Means

the thai government should print like 15 millions maps of the world and give it out for free. for every household one and pins or flag pins of different colour.

different colours for different meanings. like red for banned. purple for pass port holder of that nation and so on.

so every thai can follow where is thaksin now. everyday 6:30 in the evening is on television an update show. that report the newest rumours and also provides some additional information about that country in question. local customs, favourite food, funny animals. as sriracha said it, it has educational value to follow thaksin.

Well, it's one way for geographically-challenged Thais to learn some geography.

As for T going to jail in Thailand. Won't happen. The worst is he may someday be under some sort of glorified house arrest, but no one, not even his worst enemy, would dare incarcerate T in anything resembling a jail - with crap food and no access to the outside.

However, whether you believe in karma or not, T will suffer. Money impresses, but it can't paper over all things ugly. For the near term, T can prance around, skirting strict passport/visa regulations with his bulging wallet, but that can't go on for long. Sooner rather than later, a border official (or some other official) will detain him, and the ensuing fireworks might be interesting to observe.

Removing the extremes of both sides would though make reconcilliation incredibly easy but it wont result in a perfect society. Equally removing the cannon fodder from the extremes of both sides would probably have the same result. It'll never happen. The present economic problems are global, nothing the democrats or any other Thai party can fix or even dream influence.

The country is on the brink of civil war, that's where priorities are, getting rid of the criminal element and Thaksin zombies infesting parliament, the police and all levels of government and society.
