Thai Banks & Their Online Systems

Featured Replies

I'm a Brit and the Thai bank I use is Bangkok Bank.

Feature-wise, compared with the online systems of UK banks like Lloyds TSB, Nationwide and Smile, I think Bangkok Bank's is quite good.

Except for one thing: LOG-IN SECURITY. To log into the Bangkok Bank system all you need is 2 things:

1. the customer number the bank gives you (in my case a 10 character number)

2. a password you make up.

I forget how complicated the password has to be, but that isn't my main point. My main point is that all UK financial institutions with online systems that I've used have more stringent log-in security.

For example, all the other (UK) banks I named require you to supply at least a third level of information before you can log in. This third level has to be entered with a mouse clicking on-screen prompts. This helps prevent so-called keyloggers recording what keys you're pressing on the keyboard.

Are the log-in procedures of any Thai banks as secure as, for example, the UK banks I cited?

Thanks.

I think so ,but you cant transfer any money, order credit cards etc.

In my bank i get a sms to my predefined mobil number in the branch when i need to add a account number to transfer money to

Jack

Seems secure to me.

I have Bangkok Bank & SCB

Both seem fine & as secure as the USA sites.

Yes they do not ask you any silly additional log on questions but....

All you can do in the account is things you have pre-set.

So if someone had figured out your PW after they got in they could only do

the things you wanted like transfer to another account of yours etc.

If they wanted to do something new like move money out to another unlisted account

first they need to receive a password sent to the phone that is registered to the account via sms.

Also anytime you access your BKB account right after you log out you receive a email saying someone has

been in there just in case. So all in all I feel fine about them or as fine as I do about the US ones :)

For the most part I would not give any bank too much leash :D
