We are in the US for a couple of months...but, we keep up our Thai lunches with friends.

The somtum looks as if there is no suace or chilli....

I would take a guess that is because it has not been "pounded"yet.Som tum always tastes best right out of the "crock".

Seems we follow the same schedule corkscrew! I made a Thai meal for my family, laab, tom kha gai and stir-fried kale with pork and garlic. I was amazed to find fresh lemongrass at the local Safeway. Made it mildly spicy, my sister couldn't eat much, dad ate more and my sister's boyfriend (from Texas) wished it had been spicier. :)
