Vanilla Place Guest House -chiang Mai

Featured Replies

I was readig about Vanilla Place guest house in chiang mai and the reviews seem pretty good. To me, it sounds like a small, clean, basic guest house with great owners. All I really need! It would be lovely to shack up in 5 star quarters, however, a month of traveling won't allow us to do so. (unless you can point us in a direction i don't know about.) I am just wondering if you all share this opinion of VP being a good place, or if you have any other reccomendations. I would like to keep it under 1700 baht a night. Thanks!

Kelly

Probably get better replies if this was in the Chang Mai forum, but 1700 would get a really good hotel up there going on prices we havebeen looking at for Nov. Montri hotel may be worth alook. Any mods looking in could please move to Chiang Mai forum for more responses.

Dot.

For that price you can stay in a 4* hotel.

Check the rates at latestays, asiatravel, ratestogo, etc.

We usually stay in top class hotels, and of course pay through the nose for it. We went to Chiang Mai for Songkran and decided to stay at a centrally placed guest house that we found after researching Trip-advisor.

We stayed at "All in 1 GH" which was centrally located and very good value for money with a good atmosphere, it has a nice little bar where we relaxed a couple of evenings. Our air conditioned room was spotlessly clean and had a mini bar and cable tv, having been used to paying 5,000 Baht a night at top class hotels, we only paid 650 Baht a night here. The guest house is run by a really nice French guy.

I always use http://www.agoda.com , they always seem to have the best price, I have reserved hotel room in Thailand from them many many times ( have acuminated enough points for 2 nights of free stay ) and I never had a problem, I did a quick search on their website for Chiang Mai and found many 4 star choices for about 1200 bth

Good Luck :)

they always seem to have the best price unless you finalize the reservation and then find out they add another 15-21% (depending on the country) of taxes and service charges to the final amount.

a rip-off-company !!!!!

other hotel portals dont do that !!!!!

a hint for the OP:

for 1700, you can even stay in a DELUXE-room at very centrally located 4* CENTARA DUANGTAWAN these days, the Superior goes for even less.....

Thanks! I will keep looking. All in 1 Gh looks nice! I may look more into that. But, if anyone does know anything about Vanilla Place i would like to still hear your opinions. Thanks again!

For that money you stay at Mercure (formerly Novotel), M (formerly Montri), maybe even Holiday Inn (formerly Sheraton and Westin)!

Sawadee.com is my choice. I use it already more than 5 years and always has the best prices

Agreed. Never, under any circumstance use Agoda. A rip off.
