Hi,

I have less than 6 months left on my UK passport. This means I cannot get a Thai visa of any kind which I found out after travelling to the Lao border hoping to at the very least get visa on arrival. After speaking to a couple of people I have been advised to do one of the following:

1 - get a 7 day extension on my non-b for 1900 bht, then apply for a new passport immediately and pay the overstay fee on my next trip to vientiane to get a new non-b.

2- get an emergency passport, go to vientiane and get a replacement non-b asap paying any overstay fines on the way.

how long does it take for a new uk passport?? does anyone have any experience getting an emergency passport, how much and how long does it take? OR does anyone have any different advice.

Thanks.

For a 7 day extension you don't need anything but money and photo's and just need to explain about your passport situation. Sometimes they ask for a plane ticket out of the country, but you will be OK.

Other documents are only for a 1 year extension.

You would need that if you were getting a 1 year extension.

For a 7 day estension make a copy of your passport photo page, visa, entry/permit to stay stamps and TM6 departure card. Also a photo.

When you fill out the application form put the reason for the extneion as need time to get a new passport.

can I apply for longer than seven days? or when that 7 days is up another 7 days extension?

just trying to work out how to reduce the overstay fee as much as possible.

Thanks

Talk to immigration about it. They might give you more time.

How much time do you have left on your current permit to stay? The extension will be added to that date.

Edit: Immgration is closed tomorrow so you need to do it today or wait until Monday.

my visa expires on the 12th. If they can give me more than 7 days it will certainly help reduce the overstay fee.

Thanks for all your help I will head down there now.
