Okay,

Here is my problem and I need your professional help if you know 100% for sure what I need to do.

I just returned from Chiang Mai in late March of 2009. I am an American and now I'm back in the USA. I have a 1 year non immigrant type O multiple entry visa that expires on November 1, 2009.

I am returning to Chiang Mai aprox. September 2, 2009 and I need to stay for up to 1 year. My current Visa will let me into the Country but will expire November 1 2009.

I can get another 1 year type O non immigrant visa from the Consulate in the USA before I come back in early September but the two dates on the two valid Visas will overlap. Is that a problem or not? My Consulate in the USA told me that she will date the new visa starting September 15th, although I will be arriving on aprox. September 2, 2009.

One more note, I just turned 50 years old and could possibly get a retirement Visa but I do not want to put any money in a Thai Bank account. I currently get $1,171 per month retirement and have over $100,000 in savings.

WHAT DO YOU RECOMMEND I DO SO I CAN STAY UP TO A YEAR?

Thank you kindly

Joe

You can get a non-oa visa that will give you a permit to stay for one year when you enter.

If you get a multiple entry visa it will allow you to enter and get the one year permit to stay every entry for one year and if you do an entry just befoe it expires you will get another year.

After you make that last entry (or if you get a single entry) you would need to get a multiple re-entry permit from immigration that would let leave and re-enter for the time remaining on your permit to stay.

See this webpage for info: http://www.thaiembdc.org/consular/visa/Non-Imglong.aspx

You will find that you will not have any problem getting this visa. Your savings is more than enough to qualify. Also you can do a combination of savings and income since your income is not enough (you need about $1900).

Some honorary consulates do not issue this visa. The LA consulate will not issue multiple entry visas.

I don't think you need to worry about the non-o multiple entry because you will be getting the OA.
