Reading the book now before going to see the movie. I was surprised to find the following reference to Buddhism:

"Each of us in a God, Buddha had said. Each of us knows all. We need only open our minds to hear our own wisdom."

I'm assuming that's not an accurate quote?

Most of Buddha's teachings were lost in translation since he only transcribes the messages. But the quote sounds about right though... If you dissect the saying: Each of us is capable of reaching enlightenment - that sums it up, whether he said that or not, it couldn't be confirmed.

What best describes this would be one of Buddha's explanation: we all are from a single source... as how raindrops are from the lake, and once it rains, each drop will flow back down to the lake it originated from.

I can't find the quote attributed to anyone other than Dan Brown or "the Buddha." But it sounds Mahayanistic to me, possibly from the Tibetan scriptures since Tibetan Buddhism talks of our "inner deity."
