I got a multi entry Non OA in the US last Sept. (08) planning to sell the house and stay here in LOS.

After each re entry, I recieve a stamp good for a year from that date. Having arrived here on May 15 my new stamp says good till 14 May 2010.

It's my understanding that if I leave again just prior to Sept 09, it will be good for another year if I get a re-entry permit.

Question: Are my facts correct, and, where and when do I need to apply for this re entry permit to get this extension.

I submitted all the needed doc's in the US and thay advised me that copies are being kept in the BKK office.

Thanks for the advice.

Nice to be back.

You leave and return while your visa is still valid and you do not use a re-entry permit. So you return on September 6 (and your visa is still valid) so you get a new one year stamp until September 5, 2010

Now is the time you obtain the re-entry permit, which will have the same September 5, 2010 date on it. Any future travel you use the re-entry permit. If you do not travel you do not even need to get it. The key is making a return while your multi entry visa is still valid.

So Lop, I go out and back while my orig. 1 years visa is still valid and it's stamped for another year., understood

Upon arrival I get the reentry permit and use that for the next year, if I travel.

Where do I get the permit?

After you make your last entry and you want to leave the country you will need to go to immigration and apply for a re-entry permit. A multiple re-entry permit is 3800 baht and a single is 1000 baht. Both would be valid for a long as your permit to stay that you got from your last entry.

Have you been making 90 day reports to immigration when you remain in the country for more than 90 days?

As you have not yet extended where you live/make the 90 day address reports should be where you obtain the re-entry permit. If you travel so much you do not stay longer than 90 days I would do at the office the covers where you are currently staying.

I've never been here longer than 90 days at a time before as I was touring but now that I'm here to stay, that's definetly a possibility.

So I should mark my calender for 90 days trips to an immigration office?

I'm planning on heading up to CR to find a place to stay for awhile.

I'm assuming any office will do.

If I go past or prior to the 90 days, is there an issue??

You have 7 days before or after to report. If late the fine is 2000 baht.

You count 90 days from the date you enter the country. Once you report they will give you the bottom part of the form as a receipt and it will have your next report date stamped on it.

If you are going to be living in Chiang Rai I beleive your office will be Mai Sai.

Thanks UJ.

I've read a few horror stories here about the Mai Sai office.

Do I need to take anything besides my passport?

If I happen to be in CM or elsewhere can I get it wherever??

Is there any time restriction on getting the permit after my final entry on my orig. visa?

You should be able to go anywhere to get your re-entry permit since you have not gotten and extension yet.

You can get it whenever you want. A lot of people get at least a single entry so they have it in case of an unplanned trip.

You will need one photo.

When you fill out the application form it has spaces for your departure and return dates. You can put any date there you want because once they put the stamp in your passport it does not matter.

A final thanks to everyone.
