My worst experience was in Jomtien, when I was single. A lady I was with was in the washroom too long, and I discovered she was smoking yaa baa. :) I asked her to leave, but she refused. She went postal, got hysterical and brandished a knife, so I grabbed my stuff and went to the lobby ( about 11 pm ) and phoned the owner (farang from new York) of the hotel, who I awoke( I had stayed there a few times before and knew the owner..we had drank beers together a few times). He was VERY angry and VERY drunk. It turned out she stole the DVD from my room. The owner told me he was going to call the police and charge me with theft. I decided rather than get into a pissing contest with this person to take the high road and paid him for the DVD. Out of general respect I shall refrain from naming the hotel. I have a good friend who is a policeman in Pattaya who wanted to visit this owner with a few of his policeman friends, but I declined the offer..the owner is a loser in my books, so why add to his misery? The lesson I learned was always stay in Thai owned hotels, and avoid free-lancers (independant working girls.. if you have a problem it's not like you can go to the bar they work in and complain) like the plague .

I've had a few semi-bad experiences but nothing really worthwhile telling. However, I do know that every not so great experience I have is a lesson learned. I feel some of those lessons might have even saved my life at a later date had I not had them. Case in point was going out on the town with 2 men I didn't know and only one guy I did know. The other two turned out to be sleeze bags who almost got us in a world of hurt had I not been a calming affect on the irate Thais who were about to assault us. I learned never to go off with strangers I don't know in a country I'm not familiar with.

Same goes with riding motorcycles in the crazy Thai traffic. I've had a few minor accidents that taught me to NEVER EVER TRUST A THAI DRIVER TO DO SOMETHING REASONABLE! That lesson has saved my life on more than a few occasions.

3 years ago, my 1'st time in LOS, I was with a thai gf and calmed an arab tourist down who was going crazy on a waitress in the Baioke Sky Hotel restaurant in BKK. I just asked him if he was okay, to divert his attention from the unforunate waitress. The gf got quite upset, and told me NEVER to interfere like that in LOS, because I was new there and "you can easily get killed". I try to keep a low profile when I'm there ( going soon for time #7, discovered Thailand in my late f :) rties..oh well..better late than never)

So let me get this right. :)

The owner of a hotel, asleep at a reasonable time of night after a few beers is a loser ? :D

A customer who takes a yabaa smoking prostitute back to the hotel for paid for sex is an up standing guy who thinks its the owners fault for all his problems :D

I dread to think of where exactly you come from to come up with this type of logic ?

I had a similar bad experience. Sleeping in my hotel room alone, minding my own business. Women knocks at the door, I answer the door, she pushes her way in, high on yaa-baa...

'I asked her to leave, but she refused. She went postal, got hysterical and brandished a knife, so I grabbed my stuff and went to the lobby'

Called the police, she paid them in front of my very eyes to take no action...

At least I'm now divorced from her.......

Some Guys really let there brain back at the Airport when they arrive. You pay your Hotel to sleep in a room, not to sort out your problems you make yourself.

I would be angry too if somebody thinks he can call me in the middle of the night to sort out problems like that. Next time call your mother, she may feel responsible for you. No wonder more Hotels start to ask a Joiner Fee, its not for the additional person, its for the trouble they have because of some brainless cxxnts

Easy to gain your respect I see.

Anyway, my worst experience was getting married. And subsequently losing 3 houses totalling around 30 million baht.

Just the other day she told me if I do not give her gold and some money she will have me killed.

How many times do you need to be bitten on the arse before you learn your lesson, tell her you have a thai friend that would kill for a bottle of J.W. Black Label. :):D

Its not the owner/ managers fault at all..it was mine,so you don't have a pot to piss in pal..If I could do it again I would have just left and waited until morning to tell him, as I knew he was pissed by 6 pm every evening. I'll give you the second stone so you can throw another..I have thick skin( you have obviously never F'd up,so cast your stones)..as it was I called my policeman friend and he picked me up from the hotel. He told me they had problems with that owner before,so I'll introduce him to you as you aapparantly appreciate winners like yourself.

Cognos, I have to admit that I would not make a post like yours public, as your leaving yourself open for ridicule :D you must know that the majority of posters have never done anything so silly, or would have the balls to admit it, hindsights a wonderful thing. :D

Some of you may want to look in the mirror as you cast stones from your little glass house. I did not post this for an analysis, but go ahead if that is your wont..quite frankly Scarlet...I freely admit I screwed up big time..I learned a few things as a result..ie: I have not solicited a bg for several years, and never will again,as I am not the type to commit adultry to a trusting wife..but all that is besides the point..the point is TELL your story,or DON'T..SLAM me,or DON'T..I don't CARE which option you choose, because I have the important things like most of you...health,happiness and peace of mind.. and if you don't have them, I sincerely hope you have them asap..adios

OP, I'm with you. I think it's terrible that someone who posts a humiliating story on a massively popular internet forum should then be subjected to other people's comments and opinions.

What is this Nazi Germany!!!!???!!!

It's political correctness gone mad!!!??!!

I have into some minor problems so far, but nothing major.

If you can get a business card of a policeman. My wife's brother is friends with one and I got a card of her.

Whenever I hear any BS from the girl or the bar owner etc I pull the card and show it to them and pull out my phone.

Instantly they back off. Its like Kryptonite to Superman.

I got my car booted by the police once for parking in a no parking zone, I would say it wasn't my fault because the paint was so black from people hitting the curb with tires that I honestly didn't notice it was a no parking zone; however when I saw the boot on my car and looked around there were 2 big signs right in my face on both sides of the street saying this was a pedestrian crosswalk, oops my bad. I know it's not note worthy but it is the worst thing that ever happen to me in Thailand mostly because it was a smoking hot day and I had to take a red truck to the police station.

A decade in LoS and I don't have a Policemans card.

These newbies sure get connected fast in Thailand yet have such low life experiences...... :)

Why do you have BS in bars? i never have any BS in bars... what is it about some people?

I find being normal, polite and paying my bills are the only requirements I need to stop any BS. Maybe you should try it instead of having a few drinks and thinking your seven foot tall and full of kryptonite with your card.

:D Pathetic

Sorry, when looking at this comic, I couldn't help but thinking at some people here :)

You all know "Calvin and Hobbes" but some younger cartoonists are worth a look too, "Get Fuzzy" and "Pearls before swine" just to name a few ...
