This whole visathing is really unclear to me. Can someone please advise me?

- I'm 24, Dutch nationality and currently living in the Netherlands.

- I want to live in Thailand for at least 1 year.

- My company is based in the Phillipines and i want to manage it from my home office.

- I'm thinking about registering a brancheoffice for my company in Bangkok, but that will not be done in the first 6 months.

Can i get a 1-year business visa if my company is not based in Thailand?

If i don't get a business visa, will i have to do a visa run every 30 days?

Do i have to go out of the country every 90 days with a business visa?

from the ministry of foreign affairs website: "The holders of this type of visa are initially granted a period of stay in the Kingdom not exceeding 90 days unless otherwise instructed by the Office of Immigration Bureau."

I read a lot about the Thai embassy in Hull, but what about Thai embassy in the Netherlands? How hard is it to get a visa from them?

I'm reading so much contradicting information about visa regulation, so i hope some of you can help me out.

Company letterhead requesting business visa would probably work in Europe to obtain a multi entry visa. You would have to exit every 90 days as that would not qualify you for extensions of stay.

You should contact the Thai consulate in Amsterdam to get your visa. They have been reported to be more helpfull than the embassy. Website: http://www.thaiconsulate-amsterdam.org/home_nl.asp

If you don't get the B visa then you could get a 3 entry tourist visa that would give you a total of almost 9 months by getting extension of each 60 day entry with needing to ge a new visa.

The consulate in Amsterdam is very friendly, just do as Lopburi3 said and you will be allright. Reason could be investigating business oportunities in Thailand.

Untill you establish a branch office, you are not allowed to work as you will not have a work permit. For a work permit you need to be working for a Thailand based company. Not untill the branch office is established for 2 years will you be able to get an extension of stay and not have to leave Thailand every 90 days, as you will need to show tax documents over the last years.

If i want to run my Philipine business from my homeoffice in Thailand, i have to establish a branch office and request a work permit?

What if i get a triple entry tourist visa? ( 3 X 60 days ), i will not be allowed to run my company in the Philipines at all? My company doesn't do any business with Thai companies or people.

To work in Thailand you must have a work permit - to obtain a work permit there must be employment in Thailand that offers you the work permit.

Most people using computers do not declare any work in Thailand and are just here for vacations or observations or study. Not for working. To obtain work permit there would have to be an office here to hire you and that would entail more than just your salary.

Any kind of work requires a work permit according to the law.

If you are just sending email and that sort of thing you probably will not have a problem. It called staying under the radar. There are a lot of people that are probably doing it but there is still a risk.

A B visa does not allow you to operate a business. The only advantage is that you can come and go as many times as you want for a year and can stay for 90 days at time. Also if you did get things set up as a branch office it would make it easier to do things and get a work permit.

A tourist visa would mean going to immigration after 60 days and getting an extension for 30 days. If you can get the B visa that would be the best to get.

Have a look at this business guide from the Board of Investment it has a lot of usefull information.

Call Amsterdam. Not Den Haag. Amsterdam has a very friendly staff, and they are Dutch nationals too. Never had any problems there. Or start with a non im O for 1 year and arrange new visa here with a letter of your Cy in the Ph.
