June 14, 200916 yr I have an MSI Wind. Why is it after I download this free anti virus software everything run slow?
June 14, 200916 yr Your MSI Wind uses an Atom processor. While it might be okay for basic tasks, due to cost and cooling it is sadly lacking when it comes to anything processor intensive (a five year old budget desktop is faster than an MSI Wind). Avast is always running in the background and Avast is processor intensive when it runs as are most anti-virus programs.
June 15, 200916 yr Penangkaki, How many of the seven "providers" do you have running in AVAST? You may be able to improve performance on the machine by de-activating any providers you are sure you don't need. "Internet Mail" "Network Shield" "Standard Shield" & "Web Shield" Should all be activated because more than likely you will need this protection at some time or other. The other three: "Instant Messaging" "Outlook/Exchange" "P2P Shield" can be de-activated IF you are certain you never use those type applications on your system.
June 15, 200916 yr Author Thanks guys. Apparently this netbook cannot have 2 antivirus software installed together. I removed NOD32 (pirated copy) and now avast is running fine. Speed is back to normal.
June 15, 200916 yr Having two ON-ACCESS virus programs running on any one PC will generally cause conflicts and is not recommended.
