I and my hubby has been here in TH for almost 4yrs now and just today i have heard that there are some social security claims if u have kids , like u have to fill in some forms at your local SS office along with passport and birth certificate of the child and the SS office will transfer money around 300-400 thb every month directly to your bank accounts.

Also the initial pyment is as high as 12000 thb per child .Later you have to take the child to the SS every 6mths to prove that you and the kid are in TH and alive to continue transfers , until the kid is 7 yrs old

Is is true ? how do i avail this benifit ?

Regards

Nisha

I think they take the money that you pay for soc sec benefits and transfer for your child.

I'm not positive how that works, so I suggest you contact your local soc sec office.

They'll need your social security number. With the number they can get all your info off the computer.

I just came to know that it is applicable for expat and they just need the birth certificate of the child along with ur social security nos and passports .They transfer around 8000 thb to your account directly is the baby is born by normal procedure and 12000 thb if its a c section and 350 thb every month directly to your account for 3 yrs as amount for milk charges for the baby ...i also heard that this money will be transfered to only Krung Thai bank account holders , please confirm this !!

From memory, it was around the figures quoted if the lady (and I'm not sure where foreigners stand here) had paid her contributions for 6 months or something before the arrival of the baby. I know it was less than the length of the pregnancy as I remember thinking people could actually sign on for contributions when they knew they were pregnant to make a claim later. As for payment, I have no idea.

There is some government site in English which details all this. Quite comprehensive I seem to remember.

My wife and I are both falang - we both have work permits and have for more than 5 years - we each pay the max I think 750 per month - we have 2 falang children here with us - 1 of them born in Bkk - does this apply to us???

That sounds about right. I know my missus was supposed to be through the company around the time she got pregnant but somehow loads of paperwork got delayed and we missed out by a month or so.

I've read, probably on here, that there was no distinction. This was also raised on the subject of the pension received after X years of contributing to the system. I doubt the numbers are so great for westerners and if you've paid in, then you should be able to claim.

If you are an employee and you pay the contributions, you are entitled.

Exception:

The Act doesn't apply to:

<a name="1">-government officials

-foreign gov. officials

-stationed abroad

-teachers and headmasters of private schools

-students

-Red Cross employees

-state enterprise employees

-employees hired on casual or seasonal basis
