Meditation & Yoga Center In Phuket

Featured Replies

Karuna Meditation Center features practices based on the Anāpānasati Sutta (mindfulness of breathing), Mahasatipatthana Sutta (four foundations of mindfulness), the Heart Sutra (perfection of wisdom) as well as the Brahmaviharas (Four Immeasurables: loving kindness, compassion, joy and equanimity). Daily (M-F 3:30) Dharma discussion with meditation instruction is available to anyone visiting the center.

Karuna is one of few centers in Thailand which is led by English speaking practitioners, instead of Thai-speaking monks. The staff of Karuna also attempts to avoid religious ritual, focusing instead on the practical core of the Buddha's teaching to end your suffering and increase your peace. The teachings are given in a straightforward and direct manner and are easily accessible to anyone with a basic command of English.

The center is located between Patong & Kamala at Nakathani Village. Search for Meditate-Thailand and you'll see the Karuna site.

Looks very interesting. Haven't looked through it properly yet, but I'm pleased that Beginning to advanced meditation instruction is available to individuals in English, in the Theravadan, Mahayana, and Vajrayana traditions. Also that there is provision for longer stay at a reduced daily rate. Will check it out in more detail.
