It's very hot here at the moment. I'm talking well over 20 degrees. Maybe even topping 30 in some parts. Crazy times.

How's the rainy season treating you all?

Well I got a smile out of that one, 20c is hot?, anything under 25c and I have a coat on. 30c is just great, 40 I can live with, I used to live in the outback of Australia, most days during the wet season the temperature would be up around 53c and I would still mow the lawns in that temperature. I guess it's what your used to.

53? Sounds a bit high, are you sure your thermometer was calibrated in Celsius or Farenheit? My folks have a beef station in QLD.... I'm glad it never got near 53 there... perhaps 46 tops.

But it's winter here in the Antipodes now (NZ specifically): Coldest May on record.

We've had 42 degrees in central Thailand before, (NOW it's Thailand related- :):D ), which was really sticky. Hope you folks back home in the UK are enjoying the sunshine, seems to have been a long time since you had a decent summer - enjoy!

By the way, it's been raining here for weeks now, just to cheer you up even more!

And what's Thailand related?

Headline in UK Daily Mail--"now it's as hot as Bangkok"--Thai enough for you?

Sorry---actually says "now it's hotter than Bangkok".

Quote "Britain was as hot as Bangkok today as temperatures exceeded even yesterday’s sweltering heat. After the hottest day of 2009 yesterday at 31C, forecasters say the temperature will climb a degree higher today and could even hit 33C by tomorrow. ...read"

And what's Thailand related?

Well he DID ask how rainy season is.

But 20C is not particularly hot.

20c is considered a hot summer where I come from in Norway. 30c and people start panicking and dial 911..... :)

The UK news did make me think about how we can be a quite happy with a given temperature in Thailand but start to worry in the west. The UK authorities are talking about how people can turn to NHS Direct for advice, and of course there were quite a lot of deaths in the Paris heatwave a few years ago. Guess if you live in Bangkok you just turn on the aircon.

I always thought New Zealand was a few hours in front of Thai time....but it's May there, and July here???

:):D

Joking aside, how cold does it get in May there? Beautiful country by the way, having the Lord Of The Rings filmed there, must have made your tourist industry boom.

Out on my boat on Southampton Water last Monday, warm breeze, brilliant sunshine, sparkling sea, it seemed to me just like Thailand in November.

Hot weather in the UK is reported these days with a note of crisis, ("Global Warming" etc) as if we're not supposed to enjoy it. I don't care how hot it gets here, it never lasts that long. Only a couple months more work, and I'll be getting the Non-imm visa, and for the first time in my life avoiding a whole miserable dark cold winter here.

Who will they dial when temp is 37-38c, the norm in LOS during Mar-Apr?

I set my aircon to 20c.....

Geez, I'd freeze at that lol... way back when, when I lived in Maine, it was nothing to have -20 in the winter for 10 days in a row, sometimes down to -40. And now +20 is cold. I must be getting old :)

Rainy season just great here, everything is nice and green, no flash flooding so far, a few snakes here and there, overall weather is some what wild. :D:D:)

I doubt you are that old... :D Probably, not dressed for the weather. I imagine people in the heatwave still wearing their suits and ties and struggling in the heat, all because that's the business attire of society there.

Governments should declare a week of Songkran-like festival.

Ah, the British summer.

Basically everything and everyone goes mad. Months of the usual dreary crap and then suddenly BANG!!!!!! A couple of days of above average temps and people go mental with it!!!! They'll dig out the summer wear of years gone by. Old tatty shorts and the white sock wearing sandal brigade. Everywhere!!!! Fashion sense goes out the window. :D

Forget about all the warnings of sitting in the sun. They want to FRY in the sun!!!!!! Yeah, they know the dangers but it won't matter will it??!! A few hours of first degree burning!!! :) Love it!!!!

Then there are the people that, who despite being twenty odd stone over weight just love to show it all off!!!!! The guys and gals who really should put more on, are taking more off!!!! It's like a parade of whose got the most tattoo's!!!! :D

But dont worry, like usual, it will all end soon with one almighty show of nature. Crash bang wallop and all that.

Ah, the British summer. Love it!!!!! :D

In Saudi the mandate was that all outside/construction work stopped when the Thermo hit 50 degrees but it never did (of course) in fact it never went offically above 49.98... :D ....weather controlled by a government....yes.

Getting back to the Smoke ...hot today 33 plus with clear blue skys but unlike Bangers we dont have many of those magic things called...Air Conditioning units.....the underground/tube are running sweat boxes ...good for losing weight.... :) ...we rely on the wind for a breeze....

Anyway having a day off and might have a wander down to the old dog for a pint of amber..... :D

Definately 53c, slap bang on the Victoria River half way between Kununurra in the West and Katherine in the NT. It;s out of the tropical climate and into dry/arid.

Here in the far North East the weather has been more typical of the rainy season than last year. Absolutely gorgeous from 6am to noon with not much cloud and temperatures rising from 25 to 35 ish during that time,. Starts to get really humid in the afternoon and by 4pm to 6pm it is tropical thunderstorms with a couple of inches (sorry not fully metricated) an hour at least by my reckoning. With it comes the relief of a cooling wind.

This is my first year of living here on more than a temporary visit basis and I must say I have adjusted to loving the rhythm of the rainy season - you get all your serious manual effort over between 6am and 10 am, have breakfast, go shopping or visiting or lunching between 11am and 3pm and sit on the porch shooting the breeze with the family and locals when its teeimg down and cool. a bit more work on the garden or house if it stops raining in the early evening, then time for dinner and a Laos Khao or two thereafter.

Perfect. Haven't missed real beer or pubs yet.

Where's the 'Rain' Thread when you need it :D

I was thinking just that

and yes to make the topic title more relevant to discussion I may have to edit title

(it may have started out as Brit/UK weather...but seems everyone wants to talk about the weather :) and most are talking about Thai weather, perhaps I have to bend the rule slightly to accommodate? )

hmmmm

open for topic title suggestion.

Im not calling it rain though. dont dare compete with that :D
