PHATTHALUNG : The slaying of a rubber tapper and the theft of his pistol has highlighted concerns the province is developing a thriving black market for stolen firearms.

Police identified the latest victim as Thawee Phromboonkaew, 36, of Khao Chaison district. He was killed early yesterday while on his way to his plantation.

Police said Mr Thawee was shot by two gunmen about 4.30am just 300 metres from his home.
