Just curious what's people's thoughts are on getting vaccinated for hepatitis A, B, C.

Been living in Bangkok for a few years now, never got vaccinated and haven't really thought about it to be honest.

Moving to China in a month. Getting the impression that Hep. A is more common there- in water, sharing food?

Thinking about just getting a hep. A shot before I go.

any thoughts?

thx

First off no shot for Hep C nor a cure.

HepA - 2shots, anytime then 1 month

HepB - 3shots, anytime, then 1 month, then 6months

So in Summary, combo shot HepA/HepB, then 1 month later HepA/Hep B Combo, then 6months later Hep B Shot

Are you sure you never had the Hep A vaccine? Most people under a certain age will have had it already.

If not, then most definitely yes, should have had before coming to Thailand (take it from one who got Hep A here, back in the days before vaccien was available!)

Hep B - absolutley if you are likely to have sex with locals (it is primarily spread by blood and other bodily fluids) and a good idea in any event.

If I need to get the shots in a series, but i dont have enough time to do that before going to China, does it make any sense to get a single shot for hep A, B? I will depart in less than a month.

Sure just start the series now and finish when you are in china. I am taking Twinrix Combo - take first dose at 0months, second dose 1month, and 3rd dose 6months. As my Dr explained some protection is better than none.
