Importing A Used Vehicle

Featured Replies

I plan to buy the Tata Nano in India later this year and drive it back to Thailand. Does anyone know what the Thai import tax for used vehicles is? Or more important, which government department is responsible for this?

the estimated waiting period for most clients in India who booked the car is presently 1½-2 years. thai custom duties for cars are prohibitively high and the procedure is very tedious. but you have my permission to keep on dreaming.

Aren't they planning to sell it, soon or later, in Thailand?

Suggest you visit the Thaivisa vehicle sub-forum and locate some of the dozens of prior threads on importing cars into thailand and read and read and read. The bottom-line is always "don't bother, don't even think about it".

More importantly.............. WHY!

Agreed basically a waste of your time and money - even if you get the approval to go ahead once it hits customs they will keep hiking the price. So you will end up paying much more than its worth. So unless you have good connections with Thai customs I would seriously advise against trying.

Thats what I want to know too, why would you buy a Tata???????????????????
