First Time To Phuket - Hotels Near Marina Boat Lagoon?

Recommended Posts

Hello,

Never been to Phuket before. I am heading over this weekend (Friday) to this business address for a meeting:

Synergies & Co., Phuket Ltd.

Marina Boat Lagoon

39/4-5 Koh Kaew Plaza, Moo. 2 Thepkasattri Road

Tambon Koh Kaew, Amphur Muang, Phuket 83000 Thailand

Can anyone recommend a hotel nearby? I will be traveling with a thai wife and our toddler child. I plan on spending one night at the hotel. I am ideally looking to keep things simple, and have the hotel be as close to the above address and the bus station as possible. Should we take a took took, taxi, song teau from the bus station? Any advice on a hotel and generally getting around will be appreciated. I am all about budgeting my money, so I am not looking for anything above 1,000 a night, and the cheaper the better (as long as it's clean). I hope that price range is possible in Phuket...let me know if it isn't.

We live in Krabi so I'm reasonably familiar with living in Thailand, just have never been to Phuket.

Oh yeah we have a motorbike, anyone ever drive from Krabi Town to Phuket...I'm considering that if it's not too bad of a ride.

Thanks,

Scott

The bus station is not very close to Boat Lagoon, and I don't think there are any budget hotels near boat Lagoon. My suggestion would be to find a guest house near the bus station and commute to Boat Lagoon. There are a few very cheap guest houses behind the main bus station, go to the road at the back of the bus station (only pedestrian exit) and there are a few cheap places (much less than 1,000 baht) down that short road. Then take a taxi or local bus out to Boat Lagoon, about a 30 minute ride. Best of luck.

The hotel in Boat Lagoon is OK, but comes in at about 1800 baht, I think. Mostly Asian tourists use it. How long are you coming for, and what else do you plan to do while you're here..? Apart from the marinas, and boat trips, there is not much else in the area. And the weather at this time of year is not so good for making boat trips to the islands. I agree that to stay in Phuket town may be your best option, and come to the conference each day by bus, or tuk tuk. Your wife will find more of interest in the town too. It's a long and dangerous ride by motorbike from Krabi, with wife and child, and I would strongly suggest you don't consider that. Come by bus, and possibly hire a bike once on the island..? By the way, what is the conference about..? The name 'Synergies' sounds intriguing..?

I dont have any info on or around the boat lagoon. But I have driven from the south of phuket to Ao Nang twice on a honda dream ( I have been called crazy by many people for doing this ) But My little honda is in good shape and i dont find the trip bad as long as you get a good nights sleep and just take your time. But It would be completly different if you have a child as well. Why not take the cheap bus over and hire a bike 100/150 baht for the day?

I hope the meeting isn't about road safety.

The bus will pass directly in front of Boat Lagoon. If it a local bus you can have them drop you off right there. The long hall buses will stop at The Heroines Monument. From there it is a five minute ride on a Motorcycle Taxi. There is no reason to go all the way into Phuket Town. From the main road you can walk to anywhere in Boat Lagoon in about 10 minutes.post-10698-1247636564_thumb.jpg

Wife, Toddler and yourself on a bike?  Hmmmmm.......   I'd advise to spring for a rental jeep there in Krabi, and stay in a cheap room in Phuket town or elsewhere. Lots of hotel rooms about now for 400-500 baht.  Why risk your wife and toddler to save a couple of baht?
