What's the matter guys?

If you samuians are not capable to arrange a TV meeting, we kohphanganer can manage to make a nice one! But you all have to take a ferry...

:)

are you kidding? didn't you see them lose their rags in the last thread when they thought they might have to take a taxi?

seriously who would want to attend such a gathering?

I too would like to know what terms TV considers amenable, and what are these special requirements on-site defribulators? geriatric nurses?

In the op it was asked for possible location & venues, Baz was given them & those venues were approached siteing thaivisa requirements. It is clear that a suitable venue has not yet been found so now you (and other memebrs) have been given the reason why it has not been organised yet.

Further locations will be approached if they are suggest & when baz approaches them they too will be told of thaivisa requirements.

It is quite possible that venues on samui don't need the buisness

more like they do not value TV advertising as much as TV does.

have read these threads & have no interest in dealing with the samui posters on a night out?

come on get real and i am very surprised that you would write such a trollish comment.

so i did the research and yes it is all about the money so why not just say it. TV guidelines are as follows:TV wants to barter advertising for booze and venue. So if we want to have a party we need to find a place that values TV advertising more than the cost of their booze. who knows stranger things have happened.

The proposition has been put to a couple of venues that they could do barter for the events on food and beverage for advertising, but it was not compulsory, they were each asked about pricing of their food and beverage so a budget could be put together.

We are still in the process of looking for a suitable venue that can meet the requirements and see some benefit from holding such a widely publicized event at their location.

We haven't ruled out any yet, we are just trying to select the most suitable.

good lord. listen to you. i am not surprised no one is interested. widely publicized indeed.

why don't we all just organize our own party :D ....forget Thaivisa :D we can use this thread and their forum since they can't get it together and really are only doing it to make more money off of us...then we do not have to worry about their "requirements"...which we should not worry about anyway! :D ...so I think we had it narrowed to Baan Rak, which place? and which date? How about Friday, 14 August 09? Which venue though?Let's just name one and show up and forget, with all due respect, the original organizers! :D ....hurry, they will delete this soon and ban me forever :)

Yeah, nice to joke about it. But don't step on baz's toes, 'cause he'll ban you for a week. And that's not a joke but a fact.

Friday 21st August would be better for me

me too!

Count me in. Which location? I can suggest a nice bar at the very start of the ghost road in Banrak, cheap drinks, good bbq, pool table.

What about the sittings in front of Kinaree supermarket? It's very o.k. Don't be so average and choose a bar!

Maybe you should ask the members in Chiang Mai and Pattaya. They seemed quite happy with free beer and food. No one made any money out of them.

near the ferry pier?

or we can make a bar hopping thing.

The Pattaya forum members managed to shortlist 5 venues, approached them to see if they were interested in it, took a vote, got a reasonable amount of numbers to commit to attending and then approached Thai Visa for funding.

Since it has always been normal procedure for members to get these things organized, show that they can get people to attend and then come to Thai Visa I find some attitudes here interesting, to say the least.

Also, I should add that normally, in the past, it has been that locals have a few informal gatherings so that Thai Visa can determine how many people will actually show up.

It seems to me that you are better served to arrange a get together on the 21st and if it appears to be successful then we can attempt to organize something larger, later in the year, like the CM and Pattaya forums have managed, and with Thai Visa support.

Nice try sbk, but the initial topic was started by George, and it was his idea. Feel free to join in, then you can see how this get together will run out.

You are right, I forgot that. Well, since its G's proposal it seems fair to me that the terms must be amenable to him. Don't you think?

And if you are willing to pay for my ticket, I'd love to come Prasert. But as it is, I am the US visiting my father who is not well.

at this point sbk a response more like "Oh SORRY, you are right" would be a better reply rather than continue to defend a bad position. hey it's ok no one expects you to be perfect but it would be refreshing to see TV and it's mods admit that this whole party idea has been mismanaged thus far.

OK,

sorry Prasert, you are right. I forgot.

But the truth is, that Thai Visa has made an effort and continues to make an effort to find a venue. While some complain that Thai Visa is not going with a venue they want, the fact is that if Thai Visa is going to be funding this party it only seems reasonable that the terms are amenable to Thai Visa.

I wasn't aware that TV would be funding the party! Seems we are being drip fed info which will contribute to its success.

I still dont get why you dont ask BBC to have to Party, its in Ban Rak, the owner is a TV member , should be easy to arrange. Would love to join, but Im leaving on the 19th :)

know people who have been visiting Thailand for 20 years and have visited every island except Samui. They just shrug there shoulders saying its sounds to hard. Bit like this thread really. I would go, Lived here 2 years and still haven't been. Why don't one of you guys just do an unofficial meet up confirm it and then pressure TV to make it official? or is that to hard :)
