Professional Basketball League In Thailand

Featured Replies

I am considering starting a professional basketball league in Thailand. The first year would consist of 8 teams utilizing the closed gyms on International school campuses, until facilities are aquired. I am interested in your opinions on the possibilities. Basketball is played on the University level and while the skills are basic they still provide a foundation level to start. The teams can have 2 foreign players per team and a 10 man roster. Basketball is growing rapidly in China,Japan, and has a nice base in Austraila, what do you think? All comments are greatly appreciated

so is there any professional league in Thailand at the moment? anyone knows?!

What about Bangkok along? I notice there's a True basketball club website and there seems to be some cooperate sponsored teams playing each other. Any luck for foreign players to try out?

Its not that easy to set up a Basketball Pro League here.. you will need alot of support form the Local Basketball Association . As if your league clubs could hire a pro foreigner as an import player .. They will require a work permit in order to play . this is Similar to Thailand Football League

hey tytus,

thanks for the info!

do you know anything about the corporate teams in Bangkok? at what level are they playing?

thai basketball team is very small and inexperience that thai team can't win against philippine highschool team.

Relevant government groups:

1.) Basketball Association of Thailand Under The Royal Patronage of His Majesty The King, BAT

2.) The Amateur Basketball Association of Thailand, ABAT

Maybe check with some sportswriters at newspapers to get a feel for history and current high school, college and industrial competition.

I've coached at the NCAA level and scouted Asia for NBA teams. I'm semi-retired here in Pattaya.

I'd be happy to help organize a league....might even be able to coach.

Thai people are very short.

Not to mention that no one here cares about basketball. I've seen plenty of basketball courts but never anyone playing.

Hi guys

There is now a men's basketball league in Bangkok run by an ex-NBA guy called Ike. Here is the site:

Top Flight Basketball

They are looking for players and teams for next season.

Cheers
