Today I will be renewing my Retirement visa for the 3rd time - I will be going to the Jomtien Immigration office. As a year has passed since my last re-newal my memory is a little rusty - I believe I have everything needed for this re-renewal:

1. 800K in the bank for over 90 days

2. Letter from the bank

Questions:

1. Do I still need a Health Certificate?

2. How many photos?

3. How many copies of the passport (main page, visa page, etc)?

4. I have just gotten a new passport from the US Embassy yesterday, So I will bring both old and new passports to Immigration - is there anything extra I need to do for the immigration to put the new visa in the new passport?

Thank you all for your attention and help.

1. Believe one copy/photo is all that should be required for retirement - but I would err on the side of caution and have an extra set.

2. Believe that office requires proof of address and you are not using Embassy letter so I would bring something to prove that.

3. Your current stay stamp must be transferred into new passport - the US Embassy informs you of that requirement with a letter to immigration to assist you. That will be another form and copies of old and new passport.

4. Be sure your passbook has been updated and in agreement with letter.

Lopburi3 - Thank you!!

In regard to Proof of Address: Would a copy of the Title of my condo with my name (in Thai) be a good enough proof?

I did get a letter from the US Embassy asking the Thai Immigration to honor this new passport, BUT it is addressed to the Suan Plu Immigration. I went back to the counter at The US Embassy and tell them that I live in Jomtien. They wouldn't change it and said that technically it's good at any Thai Immigration office although they have had some reports of it's not being excepted at some Thai Immigration office. If this is the case do we have to go all the way to Bangkok (Suan Plu) to get the current stamp transferred, then go back to Jomtien Immigration to re-new my visa?

The proof of address should be OK. I believe Jomtien office will make the transfer - you can try. Some tell you to do in Bangkok. Even without letter they should do it - the UK Embassy refuses to even issue a letter.

Update!

I went to the Jomtien Immigration yesterday - first I need to get the Permission to Stay Stamp transferred to my new passport. Filled out the papework and went to counter# 8 at 10:00am - I was told to go back the following morning.

I came back today with the proper paperwork to re-new my Retirement visa. I went to counter# 8 again to get my new passport back with the new Stamp. While still at Counter# 8, I gave him all the necessary paperwork and 1900 baht payment for re-newal of my retirement visa. As it's Friday, I was told to come back again Monday morning and given a pink number. I was also told that on Monday, I can apply for the multiple entry, which is another separate procedure.

Last year if my memory serves me well, I was able to re-new my retirement visa and get the multiple entry stamp all in the same day. It can't be because they're busy as I was the only one needing assitance at counter# 8 at the time. I guess this is the new procedure?

Will report again Monday :)

No this has been the case for at least two years,I've renewed mine several times now,and always had to go back the next day to pick up my passport and get the re-entry stamp.I don't really know why, because the first day,all the stamps are put in your passport,so I can't see why they don't do the re-entry stamp at the same time. The only thing I can think of is that overnight your details are checked to make sure there is no reason to refuse the extension.I did mine three weeks ago,and to get the re-entry permit only took a few minutes. You will need another photocopy of your passport details page and the new extension page, the completed form and one photo, and 3800B
