My laptop computer is not the quickest ( 5 years old now) but I cannot figure out why it cannot connect to certain websites and not to others...or when I am on my Hotmail acct. I send my email and it cannot sent the message. It seems if the problem was due to my slow computer, then this would happen all the time but it seem sto happen during certain times of the day--all unpredictable.

How can I tell if it is my computer or my line or what?

I have taken my Dell computer to a shop but they haven't been able to make much of a difference.

(Though I do work on a computer at work, I am not that c omputer savy. )

Do you have firewall+antiv software...preventing it?

Try it with different browser software, example try it with IE and thenFirefox.

If one works and another doesn't, then you browser particular to that one you will have issue with.

Try another laptop or computer on your network. if it works great then...it your laptop can't handle new software requirement.

BTW, go through your computer and delete unwanted software. Also get a registry clean, make your computer nice and clean, clean.

I have an old 5+ Toshiba laptop too still works great.

assuming you are running on windows xp download the free utility CC Cleaner

clean your Notebook. Run a registry scan too.

Your issue can have many reasons, including a virus. Are you connecting wireless or via LAN cable?

You mention it happens only certain times a day. So I suspect your provider. Which one do you use?

5 year old shouldn't be a problem.

the best is, if you want to do that: Set up windows XP new again. But before you do that, take care that you have all the software, backup all your data, have all the drivers (latest version).

You'll be surprised how well an old computer can work again.
