I need a 60 day visa extendable for 30 days. I have fun out my tourists on arrival. I can fly anywhere and go anywhere but I want to do it quick and with as little pain as possible. Where can I go for a quick one day service? If I decide to stay overnight, how about a dual 60?

I don't mind planes, trains and automobiles. Any suggestions?

You will not get any visa issued in Thailand. The best consulate to use is Vientiane (Laos) and obtain 60 day tourist visa, issued same day. These are presently free. At 60 days you can extend your stay for a further 30 days at Thai immigration, fee 1,900 baht plus photo.

Edit:

Looking through your posts to reduce border runs you might want to consider obtaining a double entry tourist visa from Vientiane. At 60 days you can extend visa for further 30 days at Thai immigration, fee 1,900 baht plus photo. At 90 days you need to do border run and re-enter Thailand to activate second 60 day stay. Then extend again by 30 days at Thai immigration. Then start the process again if you want to stay longer. You would, however, need to obtain re-entry permit (fee 1,000 baht) if you leave Thailand during 60/30 day periods to keep your permission to stay stamp alive (or visa becomes cancelled).

For a single Entry, (60) days extendable for another (30) days, Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) is your best place in the region; but for a double entries Vientiane (Laos) is the only place at the moment.

Thank you both. If I did Laos, is the double entry given on same day or you need to return to pick up passport the next day?

If my plane gets in Phnom Penh at 9:00 AM, will that give me sufficient time to get from Airport to the Embassy to get the one day visa if I decide on that option?

The consulate in Phnom Penh is open 08:30-11:00 Mon-Fri to submit visa applications (MFA). I have not been to Phnom Penh but the consulate does not look too far away from the airport (MAP). Perhaps others can comment.

Embassy closes rather early for visa applications (11:00 I think), but one member reported that he arrived 11:30 and contacted an agent outside the embassy gate to get the same-day service and it worked out. He picked up the visa at 16:30 the same day. Don't expect to be able to pick up sooner, from what I understand the same-day applications are always processed that late.

After having to do two Cambodian Visa runs on my last visit to Thailand for a paltry 15 days extension I'd like a 60 day visa for my next visit.

I'm from the UK. and currently out of the country, so my question is this; can you apply for the 60 day Tourist Visa at the Visa office (which is before the immigration) when you arrive at Bangkok airport?

Thanks for any help.

Nope, no visas are available at the airport except the Visa on Arrival (not for UK nationals), you will however get a 30 day visa exemption when you fly in.

Where are you now, may be better to get a free 60 day tourist visa from a consulate in your current location :)

I'm offshore so no possibility of going to any consulate before I fly directly to Thailand when this job is finished. I might go to KL for a couple of days before to get the Visa sorted.

Unless you can do it online??

I wish :)

KL should be no problem, plenty of reports of opening/collection times, try a search :D

Vientiane is also good, they will currently do a 2 entry tourist for free and have a same-day service (pickup is quite late though).

Oh ok. Thanks very much for your help, I'd seen that Visa office at the airport the last two times I arrived and wondered if it was there for the 60 Tourist Visa.

I have to say that things like this are making me not want to come to Thailand as much any more. I had planned to move there in the future but seeing how rules can just dramatically change on any single day like this has made me very apprehensive about doing anything serious there now. I'm sure I'm not the only tourist who will just not be bothered with all the hassle of worrying about visas like this and just go somewhere else instead.

Do you know what is the thinking behind the 15 day visa on land border entry? And why can't we just pay money at the embassy in BKK for any length of extension (this is all you have to do in the Philippines)?? Why make it so hard??!! :D

You pay to immigration - not an Embassy. And the PI is an exception to normal procedures (although probably a good one). The thinking. I suspect, is to make it hard for those working illegally inside Thailand and push them to either legalize there status (which gets them on the tax rolls) or leave.
