Water Quality Testing

Featured Replies

I am looking for a place in Bangkok to get some water tested to see if it safe for drinking. Does anyone know of a government or university place that could do it?

I have a place up in the Northeast, near Kalasin, and we pump water from an underground source. Even though we can get water delivered at 50 satang a litre, of course it would be great if we could just drink the pumped water straight from the tap as we're used to doing in the West. While at it, I could also get our tap water from rented accomodation in Bangkok tested too.

Don't really want to get involved in one of those filter apparatus, what with the cost of some of them and the maintenance.

I use those Watersafe test kits. You can order them off of Amazon or direct from the company. There are cheap $20 kits and more extensive $80-$100+ kits where they do the labwork when you mail in samples. A bit pricier, but you only have to do it once per house you own, and perhaps periodically if you think your water quality is changing. Well worth it IMO, since it's your health that's involved.

p.s. those "filter apparatus" are well worth it if you pick reputable firm (and yes, you should periodically test your filtered water as well). Again, it's your health vs. the cost of replacing your filters regularly. Which is worth more?

:)
