Hello everyone,

I am looking for Tibetan art (Tangkhas and singing bowls), as well as Chinese/Japanese calligraphy and Japanese paintings. Are there any shops in Chiang Mai that sell these items?

Cheers, CMX

Really no Tibetan art in Chiang Mai?

Cheers, CMX

I know of a man who sells very high end. ranging from 1-10k (dollars)

if you want low end - there are a few Kashmiri shops on loi kroh that should do the trick

OK another vaguely possible option .... but how to describe where it is? It is a large clothing shop but it does have bits and pieces of art, jewelry, etc. Most of the stuff apparently comes from Nepal. It is in the central market area (the one bounded on one side by the flower market & river.

Start at Centra Duangtawan Hotel and drive down the one way lane towards Thapae Rd. Turn left onto Thapae and then almost immediately turn right. It is in this road & one the right hand side. Drive/ride down about 100m and on your right you pass a shop with lots of plastic items like trays etc etc (on your left is a small gold shop on the corner). OK, the plastic stuff shop is one door past the shop I am talking about. Happy hunting

You could try Crossroads Asia in Hang Dong.

I know that owner travels extensively to locate works of art from that area ...as well as others.

You could do worse than give them a call to see if they have what you are looking for

Good luck
