Hi,

Ref : Retirement Visa.

I have 2 questions to ask. Any kind advice is much appreciated. Thank you.

Question 1.

My wife and I, both aged 60 years want to apply for the "Retirement Visa".

The question is this. Do we need to bank in THB 800,000 or THB1600,000 for both ?

Question 2.

Assuming that we want to buy a Condominium in Bangkok, costing about 4 million Baht,

then do we still need to bank in the THB 800,000 or more or otherwise - for husband and wife ?

Thank you in advance.

1. Only 800,000 is needed. one will apply for a retirement visa, the other will apply as a dependend of the person applying basd on retirement.

2. Yes, you still need the 800,000 in the bank. Only when you invest more than 10,000,000 you don't need to show money in the bank.

1. Only one of you needs to show the money in the bank in their name only (no joint account). That person applies for the retirement extension (it is not a visa) the other gets an extension as their dependent.

2.Yes you would still need to show the 800K in the bank for 60 days (first time application only after that 3 months)

Are you aware that there are other options than the 800K in the bank. If one of you can show an income of 65K a month verified by a letter from your embassy is one. Or a combination of income (one year total) and money in the bank totaling 800K.
