I don't check into this site often, but happened to back when this awful thing happened. And then I just noticed it reported in the Globe and Mail, one of the best national newspapers.

Great job to get justice served, you have served the memory of you brother well. You guys rock.

Good result, but will they stick to it after all the publicity has died down??? Obvious to many here - the hitman is well connected. :)

You can be sure of one thing. If I see JST going past my house, it will be reported here and to Richard and family.

Well done Richard and Mary Jane! I cannot imagine what you went through to push this case through. And I read every one of your posts and updates throughout, wishing for progress.

Maybe the Thai police and justice system will take the murder cases of foreigners a little bit more seriously from here on in after hearing about the Ranong case and how the investigators faced the constant pressure of determined supporters. Or at least in the case of a Canadian victim :)

I am still a bit surprised that the case was investigated and cleared. But lo and behold, justice was done. All due to your courage and strength. All the best and may you both rest easier now.

RIP Dale Henry.

You guys are great...we didn't and couldn't have done this alone. This forum has given us spirit to carry on, when we had none left.

I have written the embassy to get the details of how long they will serve, I would like something official. I really don't think they will get any pre-release. Too much compelling evidence and publicity. It certainly doesn't stop here for me.

That beautiful Thai sun shines much brighter today!!

Happy you got the verdict they deserved. Hope you can recover the bike and other stuff. Be careful though, as some may not want to give back their evil gains! Just angry too, that murderers here, get full amnesty! That cuts a lot off their sentence. I don't see that as fair, especially in a case like yours, where out right greed and evil were the reasons for the murder.

My condolences and best of luck.

The link didn't work so here's the article:

Bangkok — Associated Press Last updated on Friday, Aug. 28, 2009 02:55AM EDT

The Thai wife of a Canadian man murdered in Thailand was sentenced to life in prison along with her ex-boyfriend and a man accused of being a hired gunman.

The Ranong Provincial Court initially sentenced the three to death Thursday for the premeditated murder of Dale Henry on Feb. 3, 2008, but reduced the penalty to life imprisonment because they co-operated with police, the court said.

Mr. Henry, 48, of Calgary, was murdered in his bed at his home in Ranong province, 460 kilometres southwest of the capital, Bangkok.

The court said in a statement that a police investigation found the three plotted to kill Mr. Henry to collect his life insurance.

It said Mr. Henry's wife, Manareet Henry, planned the murder with her ex-boyfriend, Amornsak Keskaow, in January, 2008. At one point she sent the ex-boyfriend a text message asking him to hire a gunman, saying Mr. Henry became verbally and physically abusive after drinking, the statement said.

The police report said gunman Jinda Sae Tae was hired for the attack.

Mr. Henry grew up in Victoria and worked as a paramedic and firefighter in Alberta.

Just prior to his killing, he had been working in Nigeria as regional head of safety for Noble Drilling but every three months he would spend a month with his wife in Thailand The couple met several years ago when Mr. Henry was working behind a bar in Thailand. His family has said that despite an age difference of more than 20 years, Mr. Henry thought he had found true love.

Maybe the Thai police and justice system will take the murder cases of foreigners a little bit more seriously from here on in after hearing about the Ranong case and how the investigators faced the constant pressure of determined supporters.

The police investigators had the perpetrators identified, in custody, and charged within a short time of the murder. So quickly that I doubt there was any other pressure on them than that which they may have put on themselfs.

It could have been different, as it sometimes is in other countries. The police could have used their information for something other than sending the case to prosecution.

I think they did good work and should be acknowledged for it, as should Dale's family and all those who saw this case through to the trials conclusion.

i shall try to have its translation into english posted tomorrow morning (monday morning, 09-08-31).

i too, among numerous other tv members, am very pleased with the outcome of the trial.

The Globe & Something seems to have the same deadbeat readership as the UK "Sun".

The ignorant and crass comments by the readers are way out of order.

I've had a go at some of them! :)

That would be great to have a translation...Thank you...and thank you all...again for your great PI work. I did just go to the Globe article and put in my 2 pennies. Some people are so rude!! I would like to get facts in order too!

I hope Richard was able to recover the bike. That would be great news!

I am still kind of in a cloud, they really got convicted!!!!!

Here is some info of the police that deserve to be noticed...

On February 3, 2008 at approximately 00:50am there was a violent incident in which 2 persons shot and killed Mr. Dale George with a gun, and then fled. Following this, police officers and investigators investigated and found that there were three persons involved in this case: 1. Mrs. Maneerat Henry, wife of the deceased, 2. Mr. Amornsak Keskaew and 3. Mr. Jinda Sae Tae. Investigators gathered evidence and issued arrest warrants for all three, and later placed all three in custody. Charges against Mrs. Maneerat Henry are "causing a person to kill another with intent and premeditation by contract" and have charged Mr. Amornsak and Mr. Jinda with "conspiring to kill another with intent and premeditation, jointly possessing a firearm or ammunition" The incident occured at house number 55/2 Moo 4, Bang Nong sub-district, Muang district, Ranong province on February 3, 2008 at approximately 00:50am.

Richard and Mary Jane,

I was so glad to hear that at last you have at least some resolution to this horror. As expressed by others, we could all wish to have siblings as strong and loving as the two of you.

I am also proud of Thai Visa for wha help and support we have been able to offer.

Dale, rest in piece and the knowledge you are loved.

Godspeed Richard and Mary Jane.

Hope the guilty hurry to the seventh level of the hot place.

Just wondering -- is the bolded part correct?

I cannot understand why Nee's mother was never arrested.

She was in the house with Nee, when Dale was murdered.

That is conspiracy in my book, or am I wrong?

Being present would not of itself be a conspiracy. To encourage, to assist in planning, to incite, to advise .........would amount to a conspiracy. In western law anyway

Thanks for being on top of this stuff. Really could not do it with all of you.

You are correct in saying...no, he was a bartender in Calgary many many years ago. He then moved on to "white glove service" in the Banff and rocky Mountain areas, hand picked for royalty...One of the princesses. Whatever he did, he did it very well.

I did hear of another "handle" for Jinda...Jinda Xaetae? Have not researched yet...the maid info is as follows: Burmese maid, Soso Vae, told the police that Maneerat in fact saw the two men intruding into her house to kill her husband, who was asleep after drinking Scotch whisky that Maneerat herself had reportedly offered her husband.

The maid told Maneerat about the intruders but that she was told to go away instead. Before long, she heard gun shots.

As for the Mom (Nee's) She was in the home...nothing much said about that greedy puppetmaster.

I know there were quite a few photogs around for the final day? Did anyone get photographs??

I did send out a few more pics of Dale...they were not used much...sorry to say. The most used photo was actually the worst one I have seen. Too bad...many people make judgements on first appearance. But here are some for those who knew Dale.

R.I.P. Dale.

Jinda Sae Tae จินดา แซ่แต้

Xaetae is likely just a different spelling of of Sae Tae แซ่แต้ when it's written in English letters since there's more than one way of representing the Thai letters in English script.

Could somebody clarify where Ranong is, Because i go to a place called Rannong on the west coast about three hours from Phuket, people do the visa run to there from phuket. I am a little concerned after reading how dangerous the place is ,if it is the same place i think i may give it a miss next time,

I was sitting in the Court and closely watching the 3 assassins. Jinda, the gunman, was a picture of pure evil . Nee was sitting nervously and I noticed her leg twitching .....she wasn't smiling this time as she had done in previous Court Appearances....the boyfriend was stone faced. After the sentences were given by the Judge, The Police in the Court handcuffed the two men but not Nee??, The gunman was smiling, the boyfriend gave a bit of a smirk to his family and Nee was still not smiling. None of them showed any signs of remorse and at that moment , I silently wished they all rotted in Jail for taking away one of my mates.

Wombat,

were cameras allowed in court?

I'm surprised that there is not one photograph of the trio apart from the tiny newspic, published back in early 2008!

No!! Cameras were not allowed. There were reporters there and the only chance they would have had to take any photos would possibly be when the scumbag prisoners were transferred into the "Go to jail" wagon
