So I was issued a 1-year non-immigrant B-type multi-entry visa which is good until the 29th of 2010. I will shortly be heading out of the country to Vietnam for a week. Do I need a "re-entry permit" in addition to my 1 year visa even though it is a multi-entry permit and has plenty of time left on it?

At present I do not have a work permit.

Sorry if this has been asked before but I did a search and was only getting more confused.

If you have multiple entry visa issued by a consulate or embassy you do not need a re-entry permit.

A re-entry permit is only needed if you have an extension of stay from immigration.

Edit: I hope you are aware that a multiple entry visa requires to you to leave every 90 days. It is valid for one year but that does not mean you can stay for a year without leaving.

Yes - thanks! Landed on 03AUG heading out 12SEP then back 21SEP. I am "lucky" in that my situation requires me to travel a bit.

You are on extension of stay, which is not a visa.

On re-entering the country you should put your re-entry permit number is the visa number box on the arrival card.
