I read in the Isaan forum, the Kap Cheong immigration office will not be issuing new visas and a Kurat office opening.

Any truth to that? does anybody have better information ?

Thanks

I read that topic and completely ignored it because it has no basis in fact.

There is already an office in Korat.

Earlier this year when they assigned the offices is when they made it so that only those that live in Korat goes there now. And everybody else had to go other offices including Kap Cheong for Buri Ram and Surin. So why would they change and have them go to Korat now.

Also the topic said that it would only be for 90 day reports which also makes no sense.

re closing Kap Cheong.

I was at Kap Cheong immig office today (10 Sep), and yes, I was told that the office was to be closed. 'September' was the date given. And, yes, Khorat, is the nest closest office.

I am going to bitch now and add that I am tired of Thai immig offices: waiting 70 mins for the 1 hour lunch to finish; having to listen to the noisy Thai tv while sitting and politely waiting waiting in the office; waiting while the Thai staff talk to each other in Thai entirely ignoring their customers (me), etc.

I did hear one bit of good news, if true (strong doubts). I went to immig with a Thai friend who told me that one of the police at the office said that there were plans to simplify visas for farang! Yeah, I have my doubts also. She said that the tourism businesses were complaining strongly to the gov. Lets wait and see before any champagne is opened.
