I have a minor pension 36,000 baht a month that equals 432,000 baht a year, which I would like to use to obtain the Thai Marriage visa. The 36,000 baht a month does not meet the 40,000 baht a month requirement for Marriage (visa) but it does meet the 400,000 baht requirement. What is correct in this case?? Do I have to add 4000 baht a month x 12 = 48,000 baht to a bank account or will the pension total amount per year of 432,000 baht qualify.

Thanks for any advice

Your income must be 40k or more to use that system (letter from Embassy). if you do not have enough income to meet the 40k requirement the only alternative is 400k in a bank account for 2 months prior to first application. Expect it will be 3 months for subsequent applications.

I am put this question on because I was unsure and I am still unsure. SIAM LEGAL COMPANY states this on their Website: Anymore opinions out there??

Must be married to Thai National

No criminal history (must be able to enter Thailand).

Must meet financial requirement as follows:

BANK ACCOUNT SHOWING THB 400,000 or

MONTHLY INCOME OF AT LEAST THB 40,000 or

COMBINATION (BANK ACCOUNT + INCOME x 12 = THB 400,000)

This is not correct. The responses from Lopburi and LB are correct.

A combination option exists for an extension of stay based on retirement (65k income or 800k in bank or combination), but not for an extension of stay based on marriage.

This is from the official Police Order.

(6) In case of marriage with a Thai lady, the husband who is an alien must have an average annual income of not less than 40,000 baht per month or a money deposit in a local Thai bank of not less than 400,000 baht for the past 2 months for expenses within a year.
