Hi,

I'm currently travelling in Thailand and have been for almost 5 months now. First on a single entry 60+30 tourist visa and now on a double entry tourist visa with 1 entry left. I now want to stay in Thailand for a further 7 months to do some volunteer work here the only problem being I have to do this on a tourist visa.

My question is simply, can I simple go across a border and get another visa? I have heard you cannot stay in thaialnd for longer than 6 months in any one year, is this true??

If anyone could give me advice on how I could stay in Thaialnd for a further 7 months I would be really grateful!!!!

Thanks

Glyn

ํYou can get another double Tourist Visa from Vientiane Laos. It is free of charge until March 4th.

As for working . You cannot with a tourist visa and you would need a Work Permit.

You can stay in Thailand for as long as you like. The previous rule of 6 months in any year was changed some time ago. You cannot do volunteer work on a tourist visa; you would need to obtain a Non-B visa from a neighbouring consulate. That requires paperwork/sponsorship from the volunteer organisation. You also would need to obtain a work permit.

Correct and be VERY careful about working without the correct visa and work permit.

If they catch you they may deport you!

Hi,

I am very confused about the visa and thought someone might be able to help me;)

I'm also in a similar situation... been here for 5 months on tourist visa/ visa exemption and also heard about this max 6 month per year rule.

Now I'm going to China and wanted to know if I should apply for the tourist visa at the local Thai Consulate (so it doesn't count time against me) or should I just get another visa on arrival (with my passport they always give me 3 months :)
