Hi all,

Has anyone travelled to Penangor Kota Baru using the train and or bus services. I need to go myself and not with a Visa tour company as they only leave on wednesday evenings and arrive in Penang on thursday.

This will make 1 day overstay and Penang is not giving visa's to overstays anymore, apparently.

So I need to leave for Penang or Kota Baru tomorrow evening. I'm leaving from Phuket.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Don't they still have the trains running from BKK to Butterworth (Penang)?

They pass through the south in the early morning every day. You could try to get on in Had Yai or Pedang Besar.

There is also a Malaysian train that leaves Hat Yai daily at 14:20 (Thai time) and rolls in to Butterworth around 20:30 (Malaysian time), arriving in Kuala Lumpur at 5:30-ish the following morning.
