We are 3 adults and 1 teenager going to Phuket 14.des to 29. des and wondering about where to stay. Surin, Kamala, Kata or Karon? (Patong is not an option)

Looking for peace and quiet, but still a few shops and sites to visit on the evening strall. Preferable we would like to stay in a two bedroom bungalow (or two seperate) at the beach or a studio appartment. And as we plan to make some food ourselves, we would need a small kitchen corner!

Any thoughts or suggestions? =o)

I would recommend Kata or Karon for you, but i´m sorry to say that i don´t know a place that can fulfill your wishes about your accomodation.

Beautiful beaches, peaceful but still a lot of restaurants and shops and you can make reservations easy if you want to take a trip somewhere or if you want to see a show like Fantasea or Simon Cabarét.

I know that there is a place in Karon that have studioapartments but i dont know how the rooms are. The name is Karon Studio or Karon Studioapartments and ýou should be able to find it on google.

Before there was a hotel in Kata called The Family Inn that have connected rooms but i have not been there for some years so i am not sure if they still are in business.

Maybe you could look around for adds where they have apertments for rent.

Btw are you from Norway or Denmark;)

Best of luck to you!

My family come here every year to visit me I always book them in to Garden Home Kata a beautiful quite place with you own small bungalows with a big swimming pool and about 5 minute walk from the main streets shops restaurants bars etc. and at only 1.000 baht a night. Hope that's helpful.

I would chose Kata Beach at any time. It is more quiet and the beach is more beautiful.

We stayed in Kamala Beach earlier this year and the beach there was very dirty, except for the few squaremeters around the beach chairs for rental.

I just got back from a holiday in Phuket and it was awesome. A little negotiation via email with the hotel and we ended up with a room with an amazing view of Kata beach for an incredibly reasonable price. Kata town is fairly small so easy to walk around but the beach is long and beautiful. Everyone in Phuket was so friendly and happy to see us as the tourism industry is still slowly recovering (something that makes the prices much cheaper!)

Anyway, if cheap isn’t good enough the Thai tourism bureau is even giving away free trips to Phuket as part of a publicity campaign to promote tourism there. It’s something like the amazing race or survivor style adventure travel thing called The Ultimate Thailand Explorers. They got my vote; too bad I just used up all my vacation days already. Or just go to Phuket anyway because the prices are great, the people are so nice and they make great seafood!!! (try the glass noodle crab at the seafood restaurant next to the Ska Bar at the end of Kata Beach.)

I would echo the Kata or south Karon comments.. There will be more activity for the teenager, theres shops and things of interest, theres bars with only mild sleaze, theres a nice beach and a good mix of things.

Kamala beach being dirty is a low season monsoon thing, high season its usually very nice.. I think Kamala offers a lot as a place to be but less so for the teenager perhaps.

Sounds like Kata. The southern end of Karon is connected to Kata Center, so that is also fine. Kata Noi sounds too quiet for you.
