When Is The Last Day To Apply For 30-day Extension?

Featured Replies

I have a quick but pressing question. I have a 60-day tourist visa stamped 'until 28 Sept 2009'. Can I go to immigration to get my extension on the 28th, or must I go before? The 28th falls on a Monday, so I'd like to avoid going in on Friday but don't want an ugly surprise.

Thanks in advance for any relevant advice.

You can go on the 28th. It is also possible to apply for extensions earlier and you will not lose any days. Fee 1900 baht. If you are going to Bangkok immigration Monday is going to be busy!

Thought so, but I had a touch of immigration paranoia.

Muchas gracias, amigo:-)

You will get a 30 day extension of stay on a tourist visa. That will run from when your current permission to stay expires. You would only get a 7 day extension of stay on a visa exempt entry or Non-Immigrant visa.

Yep. Go on the 28th and you will get 30 days. Always better to go earlier though.

Ok great, exactly the info I was looking for b/c my first 60-day TV is going to expire next week, and I was not sure if going to apply for an extension early would affect the dates on the current visa or not.

I am sure being a gov't office that this office works normal gov't business hours, but I thought I would ask just in the off-chance they were open on Saturdays? My weekdays are pretty chewed up, so this would be a total bonus, but I am not holding my breath.

While looking at the map for the new immigration office, I was wondering if this is the same huge office in Laksi you go to when you need to get translated documents authorized? It looks the same, or similar at least.

Any ideas what bus from near KU (Kasetsart Uni) would get me there?

BTW, is there a form online that can be d/loaded, printed and filled out prior to going to the office?

cheers,

tt

I don't know about all of the other information, but here is the form. It and others can be found in the pinned topics area at the top of this forum. Also, the latest information I found shows they are closed on Saturday.

The office is about 1km South of the MFA building. It is not on Chiang Watanna but down Soi 7 in a new and much larger building at the end of that Soi.
