I am getting weary working with only my pokey laptop screen so need to get a 20" or 22" flat screen LCD.

I spent this afternoon browsing the local shops in Udon and nothing caught my eye apart from a 'display model' Samsung 22" that they couldn't get the base pedestal to unclip, wouldn't fit in the box, etc., so I walked away shaking my head. There was also a nice Fujitsu 22" but it was close to 8000 baht.

Noticed lots of Acer flat screens but they seemed less 'brilliant' than the Samsung ones.

So, what's the smart Thailand online computer and peripheral shoppers choice please? Best selection and shipping times?

The Samsung is very difficult to get the base off. But they are a good monitor, I bought a 23" with 2ms response time in CM for $8500 Baht.

I have an Acer AL2416W, which has very good picture quality... now about 3 years old...

Partly in choosing a screen is what you are going to use it for, I do a lot of Photography & at the time this was the best quality for a PC that I could find... (still good) of course things improve in a short time with technology... so things may have got better with other brands of screens...

Mac if you can afford it does in my opinion have the best quality resolution... (it will work on a PC)

Also perhaps it is a case of adjusting the screen brightness etc.... sometimes stores adjust picture quality to try & sell a particular brand....same with TV's too!

My two bits worth! :)

I believe Samsung is generally regarded has having superior image quality while having the least likelihood of dead pixels. They have good customer service, too. The logic board went out on my 19" earlier this year but a quick check of the serial number by their rep at the local service center confirmed it was still under warranty and they swapped in a new board within 10 min without having to send it to BKK! Made my day.

Regarding your question on on-line shops. These are the primary ones I use in order of preference. Just e-mail them in advance to verify stock of the one you are interested in.

Have a look at TV's instead of monitors - most have a PC connection option these days, and you then have a TV in addition to a monitor.

Yes, the sales chap at Carrefour used that as a sales pitch for a new Acer. However, I never watch TV so no need for it in a PC monitor. I think the cheapest TV with PC monitor option is around 12000 baht.

Cheers Tywais, that was my primary question; I will see what they have.
