I have tried to get them to come and " Rescue " some dogs where I live. In 2 months they haven't turned up. Of the 5 dogs that we had around the house 3 have been dealt with the Thai way and of the 2 remaining 1 has had 7 puppies. I ased them for some advice and am still waiting a reply ? Also they will only remove the dogs, spay them then return them to where they came from. I have the number if you want it just PM me. I hope you have bette luck with them than I did.

They are a voluntary organisation and very overstretched. If you have problems with dogs it's best to take them yourself

to the Rescue. They will all be spayed and returned to their original habitat. If they are distressed/crippled creatures which would

be vulnerable if returned, they keep them and might move them to their place south of the island.

They do not charge for their services and rely on donations. From my personal experience they have always responded positively and have collected dogs which are in a bad way and can't be caught. But at the end of the day,as you obviously care they would be grateful for your help particularly if you have access to a car/truck it's best to take them there.

Gatorade is correct, they are very over stretched... & the facility on the south end of the island is being rebuilt, or expanded, they were hoping to have finished by the end of September, & now saying end of November... I`ve been meaning to stop by & see what`s going on... even help if possible... I have put aside next Monday to go see.

It`s a well run organization, I am sure any help or donation you can give will help the homeless cats & dogs on Samui! The food does not come cheap, nor the vehicles and gasoline... to cover everyday expenses.... The rebuilding will not be cheap either.....

Ok, I did make it to the Dog & Cat Rescue centre in Taling Ngan yesterday... They are building a new facility for pet surgery & a little behind schedule... (but also overwhelmed with the everyday running of the Centre, with the amount of animals there.)

I think anyone would be impressed by how well it is run & how clean it is....

I meet the owner of the facility... believe me, it's a labour of love ... Her name is Bridget... I asked how people could help out other than just donations.... and her response was to have people come & play with the dogs...(adopting would be good too!) even for an hour or two... once a week or so... perhaps if enough people could volunteer some time, a good system could be set up too, so the dogs or cats can get some extra attention & luvin!.

There is an army of paid workers there, plus a full time vet...

It's not the easiest location to get to, unless you live in the area.... it's about 3 kms up from the Snake farm, 4170 road, on the right hand side... large sign saying "Samui Dog & Cat Rescue Centre" turn up the long drive way... Open & close sliding gate! (park out side the gate!) ... if coming from Nanton direction, turn right off 4169 road, at Ban Sa Ket... onto 4170 & go perhaps 4 kms & it's on the left!

Stop in .... the dogs don't bite... neither do the workers!

i hope some people will take on your suggestion and go and spend some quality time there with the many dogs. or even adopt one, surely you would find your 'special' dog there! you won't regret it.

Thanks for the update SJ. I hope that the Chaweng centre remains open? I went there a few weeks ago and

it was surrounded by building work, more Condos etc. So I guess that it will only be a matter of time

before the new inhabitants will be complaining about the barking.

We have adopted 3 strays, they are wonderful companions and very intelligent.

Aghh you remembered! Not amongst the ex-strays. But yes, it is still acute with our Fox terrier.

As soon as I have mastered my camera I will make a new post which

will help identify to anyone interested if their dog has a Toad snorting habit.

I missed something here... about the toad thing.... good thing not a frog.... it might croak..... :D :D

Seriously though, I forgot to mention they do spay & neuter the bitches & dogs... cats too, before they are adopted out... People can arrange to have this service done... for a "donation", vaccinations are also done for a small fee....

Then we won't see posts, like "Cute Puppies Need home" all puppies are cute .... just like babies!...

There are enough cute dogs & cats available... go see~!

I hope that person considers taking the mother to get spayed before it comes in to heat again.... :) Even anyone else with a mutt :D I've even managed to convince my Thai neighbours, to get their Tom cat fixed.... believe me that was not easy....

I have not figured out where the Chawang Centre is, (could someone post directions?)...

To Poorsucker: There is a button on top of the camera... look through view finder & click the button... :D

That reminds me, I was going to upload a few pics of the D&CRS.... in Taling Ngam

Um err! PoorSucker! I'm still lost!!!!... :D

Not being one the goes to Chawang main centre often, you've mentioned Lamdin Market... & Dao Market, I've never heard of either of them....! :):D

How about using Tesco as a starting point :D or some other landmark on the Ring Road.... and take me or others from there.... That would be appreciated... :D

I'd be heading from Maenam!
