Hi

Looking to take my golf clubs out with EVA, could anybody please tell me if they are added to your luggage weight

allowance or you have to pay a seperate charge. Or maybe a number on which to enquire direct to the airline.

Many thanks

Their website has lots of info but none of it is useful. Here's the link to the appropriate section:

http://www.evaair.com/html/b2c/english/tip...ice/Baggage/#a3

Under excess baggage it says:

"Different regulations and charges apply to special baggage, e.g. golf clubs, surfboards, windsurfing equipment etc. Please click here and contact EVA Air for more details."

Some people are going to tell you that they are never charged, some will say they are charged sometimes, etc.

The only way to find out for sure what you might be charged is to call and ask.

If they say it's free, ask them to put a note in your passenger record that you'll be traveling with golf clubs and there is no charge.

Travelled from LHR-BKK last year with EVA Air.

I enquired by phone beforehand about costs for my golf clubs and was told that their weight is added onto that of checked in luggage. If over 25 kg then excess baggage costs per kilo are added. (Sorry can't remember how much per kilo).

On checking in at LHR they weighed my suitcase and then my golf clubs. The total was just less than 25kg so no additional payment was taken.

This was correct for June 2008.

Have never been able to understand why some airlines will carry a golf bag for free, but then pounce on a poor unsuspecting rarely travelled grandmother and charge her up to £80 per kilo (yes - look at BA's charges) for a few excess kilos.

I've liked flog when I played it years ago. so I won't jump on the obvious anti-floger bandwagon, but it does seem an unfair bias. Perhaps the relevant airline CEOs are golfers.
