Red Shirts Expect 1 Million People To Join Rally From Nov 29

Red rally to be held on Nov 29

BANGKOK: -- The red shirts plan their "showdown rally" against the government from November 29, which they expect one million people to join and the administration to be overthrown before the New Year's Day.

Jatuporn Phrompan, an MP from the opposition Pheu Thai Party who is a red-shirt leader, said Tuesday that the rally would be halted between December 3 and 5, when ceremonies marking His Majesty the King's birthday are organised, and would be resumed afterwards.

"We believe one million people will take part, as has been expected. And we believe that we will be able to reach the end game. If we are unable to overthrow the government, we will resume our rally after December 5," Jatuporn said.

Government to be overthrown. Which government? The farcical surface entity or the ever-lasting hidden one?

Pretty unlikely. The military control the govournment and they are the ones with all the guns. If push comes to shove they don't mind using them on unarmed civilians either.

Yeah you are right they are going to overthrow Cambodia government and bring Mr. T over here to put in jail

One Million??

I bet 70.000 if Thaksin has a deep pocket.

If he don't want to pay than 2.500

The Red leaders have studied Thaksin's interview in Dubai. The 1m attendance is the basis to ask Thaksin for his 'remaining' US$100m ... :)

Lets hope its the hidden one..the faceless families. While this crowd are pulling the strings corruption and poverty will go hand in hand. The end game is nigh

The former. I'm not holding my breath for the latter.

The reds are launching yet another "final showdown"? :)

Nope. They don't mind at all, since they've a very rich history of such.

One million red tshirts?

:):D

Overthrown the actual government?

:D :D :D :D

Please, is to much, laughing too much, stop with all those BS

This is going to be a big one I think. Not a million but big. They have been building for it for some time and have some momentum. They also cant afford to talk this one up and then have it turn out to be 20K for 1.5 days.

When they say overthrown do they mean literally or an election called?

This time Thaksin may be openly in Cambodia and not covertly.

The time for the asset seizure decison is fast approaching too. It is a bit like I looked into the sky and all the signs pointed to......

They'll be happy with elections. If Abhisit mentions a date (any date) then that probably is enough. Not having elections when Abhisit formed the government has been their main gripe basically. (Not arguing the legality of that; it was perfectly legal for Abhisit to do that IMHO)

You know what I'm praying for: That both Red and Yellow get some very clear direction on December 5th so stop this nonsense, and then to have elections announced on December 6th.

I have a feeling it wont be quite that smooth.

Soothsayer? :)

Black Songkran was supposed to be the "final" showdown. Thaksin has lost all credibility.

Do these people believe their own hype?

It is a pity they are so brazen that when the event is just a shadow of the prediction they carry on as if it was a success. :) May be they are on incentive payments like the audience.

Optimist. ( Against better judgment sometimes. :D )

Who cares about Thaksin? Other than yourself of course?

Mai phen lai. Squared keeps many distracted and busier than they need to be.

When they get 100,000 people, let alone one million, monkeys will fly out of my butt.

One must remember this is the end game for Thaksin's money.

He pulled the chute and the bull got out too early in Songkran,

but now really IS his last chance for a last ditch effort to save his pile.

Hence he has now set up a base close by, and an ally with an army of sorts.

or at least plenty of means to smuggle arms at the very least.

Jutuporn of course is the master of being a political buffoon,

he inflates the numbers like he inflates his dinner tabs and sex conquests.

So no one REALLY takes his numerical pronouncements as gospel.

Still this is the time frame when Thaksin is 'do or die' for his 76 billion.

If he can't cause the government to fall and his butt to be reinstated,

then he is sent off to the hustings for a long time to come.

It is heading for a big one.

Starting this protest a few days prior to the kings birthday is very very very calculated.

The forthcoming decision on the asset seizure will also figure very large in any final push.

Will the main man be close at hand will also figure. Would he have the balls to travel by land into Thailand on a white horse if it starts to go his way.

Can the momentum run into the festive holiday period and hit tourist and be a few more straws on a already broken donkey's back.

Have to say its going to be a very interesting month.

No its not. Nothing will happen. His Cambodia fiasco has assured that he no longer has the support of the majority. Bank on it.

Yeah, you won't go wrong by following the money. Consider how revolutionary Thaksin would be if there was no money in the game for him.

His Cambodia fiasco has assured that he no longer has the support of the majority.

Have to wonder if he ever did.

"Since the necessary determination to press on in spite of failure - a determination that every [successful person] must have - is indistinguishable from the futile determination to persist in a hopeless cause, the possibilities for self-delusion are infinite." - Clive James, Australian writer.
