Rapid Greening of Antarctica: Scientists Alarmed by Climate Change Impact
Surely the answer to all this is to build more wind turbines. Nothing greener than that. -

Tories to Challenge Chagos Islands Deal in Parliament Over Strategic Concerns
The military base is probably the biggest moneymaker that Mauritius has so it is unlikely to break their agreement. -

Down under or Thai? Aussie mum trades Oz for Land of Smiles
Often times when people say they could afford housing it's because they insist on living in the most expensive parts of the country in the most desirable areas. They may have even moved to a city they can't afford and then get all up in arms when they realize how hard it's going to be. -

Why is the MAGA movement so susceptible to crazy conspiracy theories?
MTG, here we go again. Marjorie Taylor Greene Is Now Adding Lasers to Her Hurricane Helene Conspiracy I think the answer to the question is that the MAGA movement is a cult. As such, it's a faith based movement where facts are only used in the few cases where it seems to support whatever narrative they push. Most of the time facts are just ignored and they just make up s***, like these hairbrained conspiracy theories. Beggars belief.- 1

Deadly Bus Fire Tragedy Highlights Safety Failures on Thai Roads
Not jumping to his defence......but would the driver know about improperly retrofitted gas tanks or leaking gas tanks? Initially he did run to get a fire extinguisher to try to put out the blaze....... before realising the enormity and horror of the situation....and then ran away. -

Thai visa shake-up: Southeast Asia consulates switch to e-visa only
E-visas are not approved/rejected centrally. The application is made through the common e-visa portal but it is the individual embassy/consulate that approves or rejects it, and it is they who may ask for additional information if needed (as is clearly stated on the e-visa site). -

Down under or Thai? Aussie mum trades Oz for Land of Smiles
27 million baht for a 4-bedroom house is way over the odds for a house in Thailand. Plenty of good houses for 5-10 million baht. The husband is 7 years away from qualifying for the OAP, and will have to spend two years in Oz to get it. That may not be a concern if they are self-funded. -

Concrete Truck Overturns, Crushing Car and Killing One in Chachoengsao
IIRC it looks like a full size concrete mixer truck, which holds about 9 cu/m of concrete when full. Depending on the concrete mix, that would weigh perhaps 15 tons plus the weight of the truck. Perhaps over 22 tons all up weight and not particularly stable at speed either. It doesn't look as though he even tried to slow for the U-turn. The poor woman never stood a chance. -

Even better they could have stopped the destruction of the rain forests, that when burnt have to be releasing a lot of carbon into the atmosphere. -

Sue Gray Steps Down as Sir Keir Starmer's Chief of Staff
Careful Chomps, that misogyny is slipping out again. There's no reason to imply that she's being spiteful simply because she's a woman. It appears she has genuine complaints. -
