I for ferry , you mean car ferry, actually there are none (Samui-Phangan).

Passenger ferry (boats, catamarans) many, from Nathon to Thong Sala, from Maenam to Thong Sala, from Bangrak to Haad Rin and from Big Buddha to Thong Sala.

Sorry I mean anywhere Samui to Thongsala by just foot passenger.

I arrive at 4pm off a plan in saui so guess i'll miss last boat? any advise where to stay not far from the pier, so can take morning boat without too much of a mission?

out of interest.......how does any car, truck etc get on the island if there is no vehical service?

Seatran from Bangrak will take you to Thong Sala and if you book a ticket, they will pick you up from your hotel. Many of the Bangrak hotels are with the hotel booking web sites. Somewhere like Samui Mermaid is 'cheap and cheerful' for one night and only 5 minutes away. Or further afield somewhere like Smile House in Fishermans Village - only 10/15 minutes away.

Both use the airport shared minivan service - saves taxis - and both use the Seatran pick-up service. I've stayed at both, and found them to be good.

Last ferry is 1830 from Big Buddha pier to Haad Rin.

The Mermaid resort in Bangrak is a decent cheap place to spend a night if you miss the ferry.
