Bangkok To Kanchanaburi

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I believe that there are small minivans that go from Democracy Monument to Kanchanaburi ?

Does anyone know the; frequency, cost, or any other details about them ?

I am looking to go this Sunday.

Many thanks

They are 120/140 baht, and they are pretty much every hour or so, it really depends on how full the van is.

The journey will take you about 3 hours. I believe that you can also take a mini van from Rachadamon as well.

Air Con buses are also frequent, from Southern Bus Terminal and also Northern Bus Terminal

Khao Sarn Rd will have mini vans too... or have you checked the trains???? crushed in a minivan for 3 hours aint fun.... unless your passengers are white bloused, black mini skirt wearing uni students...

Don't forget its a long weekend with the Kings Birthday...lots of people travelling..hotels booked up etc....

as it happens i am talking about going to Kanchanaburi this weekend....but it will never happen as me and the wife have discussed it..which means she will probably whisk me off to Hua Hin after telling me my yak bai tee o... and me thinking we are going to Tescos to see the sparrows flying around... :)

Go down Ratchadamoen past Democracy M onument. There are two mini bus stands on the left. Go to the second one by a small coffee stall. The price is 120 baht and they will drop you off where you want as long as you know the name of the guest house or street.

An excellent service that I use frequently.

The last time I used it-it took barely over 2 hrs in fact-but the wait till it went was fairly long. Seats are quite roomy.

it is NOT very near tho the Demcr. Mon-its just around the ROYAL=Rattanakosin hotel. There is sicne shortly ALSO a new van-nbrd 81-from the VICTORY monument-some said it be faster, more reliable in time and newer vans.

The fools who think that KhaoSarn is better make their minds up: you pay 30/50/80 bt more-and simply get walked to the same van as described..........

.

In fact there are some 5-6 stands all along Ratdamnern-where they sell all those lotteree tickets. Most go to Suphan though. And the Kan vans are clearly labelled in latin alfabet too-besides-ever been hurt for simply asking where a van went too? Your ticket-valid for that line only-is a kind of bonuscollecting-after 10 rides you get 1 free. you can pool with a group too.

Quite right but there are also fools who think everyone can speak/read enough Thai to find out the correct information, where as going to KS Road may cost a little bit more you would at least be able to ask in English and get the answers in English....

Hi all... I'm thinking of driving from bangkok to phuket ... anyone done that ? If yes, any tips will be welcome.

Thanks !!
