funny thread.... Pad Krapow is a staple thai food with some very imaginative versions.

here are some of the less known some are very good.

You must add to your list - ผัดกระเพรากุนเชียง - pad grapow with Chinese sausage (gun chiang)! A quite delicious combination invented by the wife in a rare moment of inspiration :)

IMO a good dash of oyster sauce is an important ingredient (lots of fresh chili and garlic too!).

Beef with a fried egg (runny yolk) on top...

Also if its a kitchen I know well I have it Kook Khao and have the rice fried up with the Krapow to soak up the sauce (but it cant get wet / oily like a bad fried rice).. Egg not fried hard, that last yolk juice is the perfect mix with the spice of the sauce !!

Also oddball one I really like if Phad Krapow Gop, but have them cut the flippers (hands and feet off) as theres too many bones to sort through with them..

Now that I am back in Oz for a while I have it 'sparingly'.

I hate paying $12 minimum for something I was getting for 20 bht just last week.

Plus it doesn't taste the same here, my local Thai food shop people tell me they can only get Holy Basil from Queensland and is too expensive.

I brought a packet of seeds back last time to grow my own but the 'food nazis' took them off me at the airport.

Might have to be a condom full up the kyber next trip. :)
