Carrying Cash Back To The Uk

Featured Replies

so going back for chrissy, what are you legally allowed to take out of thailand, and legally into the uk.

At Bangkok airport, signs state all monies over 1 million baht must be declared to customs on leaving the country.

Entry to the UK all currency over £7000 must be declared to customs & proof of where the money came from, this law came into force in the uk in 2007 for anti-money laundering regulations.

I am led to beleive that 50,000 TB is the maximum you can take out of Thailand.

For Thailand, unlimited baht in, 50k out without reporting; unlimited foreign in and whatever you brought in can go out again (as long as declared on way in).

Does anybody really take any notice of this stuff? I have never carried the proverbial suitcase of cash but sometimes have as much as say £10k either way.

Has anyone got a tale of woe that would make me change my cavalier attitude?

Only after you get popped and with your attitude you will some day. :)
