At Bangkok airport, signs state all monies over 1 million baht must be declared to customs on leaving the country.

Entry to the UK all currency over £7000 must be declared to customs & proof of where the money came from, this law came into force in the uk in 2007 for anti-money laundering regulations.

For Thailand, unlimited baht in, 50k out without reporting; unlimited foreign in and whatever you brought in can go out again (as long as declared on way in).

Does anybody really take any notice of this stuff? I have never carried the proverbial suitcase of cash but sometimes have as much as say £10k either way.

Has anyone got a tale of woe that would make me change my cavalier attitude?
