Dice And Cards

Featured Replies

I have been to the big Art stores, the big book stores and all i have found is a game i could purchase which used dice in it - and they are VERY small dice and poorly made. Everytime i ask for cards, they look at me like I am gonna start a casino or something.

anyone know where these 2 things can be bought locally?

thanks

i tried Robinsons - at Central Plaza... the wife asked and they said no... maybe we just did not ask the right person? where can they be found?

thanks

Dice and playing cards are illegal in Thailand because of gambling but as I say this if you looked hard enough you will find them and you will pay dearly.

No they are not - as I said before every seven eleven sells cards.

You might find wooden dice in the night market sold as handicrafts. I've also heard it's difficult to buy dice and cards because it's associated with gambling. I've never seen playing cards for sale in 7-11 but maybe I wasn't looking hard enough.

Just because a store is selling an item does nor make that item legal. I have seen 7-Eleven sell alcohol when they should not have. I have seen the BIB bust Thais for playing cards and dice on their on property and Farangs. As I said if you look hard enough you can find these items but be prepared to pay.

I think it's fair enough that the BIB are busting Thais for playing cards and dice on farangs!

Do you really think every 7/11 would sell illegal goods? They are not always on show but they always have them behind the counter.

What is illegal is if you have cards with chips or even paper with a tally on it - I know the law very well as I've been arrested for gambling before.

Actually the best place to find dice is a sports shop - usually in amongst shuttlecocks and chess sets.
