Okies, my home office gets lots of sun thru the window from around mid morning till mid afternoon and is rather unbearable (even with curtains closed) and hence iam forced to turn on the air conditioning when in reality a fan would/should suffice.

anyone know of a local business that can tint windows and at what approx price, window would be approx 6ft by 4ft (double slide).

Try any of the car window tinting shops or sign writers

Have you thought of having a canopy blind fitted on the outside of your window, that way you'll be shading the sun away from the window. Tinting the windows won't stop the heat from the sunlight entering your room.
