Hello,

I may get involved with a startup Thai software company that has 5 Thai employees.

The guy who should organise my work permit says the company needs to employ 6 Thais before they can request a work permit. Is this the case? If so does anyone know how to get around it?

Best wishes,

Tony

Not true.

In general Thai Labor Department will follow the guidelines immigration uses for issuing 1 year extensions based on employment, meaning the company would need 4 employees.

And in start up companies they sometimes are more lenient as well, so 5 employees should do perfectly fine for 1 work permit application.

The company will also need 2 million Baht registered capital.

For the staff to be accepted by labor department they will want to see the payment proof of the social security tax of those employees.
